Na een lange tijd van wandelen, zoeken en fotograferen is ‘Birds do not sing in caves’ gerealiseerd.
Het boek is ook vanaf vandaag verkrijgbaar :-)!📓

'Birds do not sing in caves' is een fotoboek ontstaan door herhaaldelijk wandelen in de natuur. 🐦‍⬛

Er zijn twee onderwerpen: het vaste landschap en de vluchtige zelf. Het landschap blijft constant, ik pas me aan, op zoek naar verbinding en afstemming met zowel de omgeving als mezelf.

Dit project verbeeldt geen escapisme. Het is gedreven door de wil om zelf te beslissen waar ik naartoe ga en waar ik blijf staan, om te vertragen en nieuwsgierigheid mijn weg te laten bepalen.

Geert Goiris schreef erover: “Birds do not sing in caves is een fotoboek dat ons meeneemt op een persoonlijke verkenningstocht doorheen uiteenlopende landschappen.

Af en toe stopt de wandelaar en wordt hij fotograaf. Zijn oog wordt geraakt, het lichaam komt tot stilstand en neemt de texturen, details en het licht in zich op.”

Mijn fotoreeks werd zowel een publicatie als een ruimtelijke installatie, met zitmeubels en grote fotoprints. 🪾

Het werk won de Roger Deconynckprijs (2024) van de @king_baudouin_foundation 🏆

Yesterday I finally got around to take a self portrait.

One and a half years ago, I decided to stop showing my personal image as much.
I found that this had become quite tiring. I noticed myself taking no more selfies, at least none that I would share with others.
People who have known me for some time can point to the fact that I used to dabble in superficiality when it came to the way I presented myself.
Today I wanted to show myself once again, not looking my best or all tidied up in designer clothing.
I’m doing pretty well right now. Just an update on my life and face. by @ethancannaert
