A few weeks ago, on my last day in New York, I spontaneously checked out a motorcycle block party in Brooklyn for the sole reason of seeing this incredible Wall of Death. These began as carnival sideshows, originating at Coney Island in the early 1900s, but very few remain today. This was apparently the first time one had returned to Brooklyn since the 40s, and this particular one was a survivor—built in 1938. @rhettrotten has been riding Walls of Death for over 25 years and rode both a 2-stroke 60s Harley, and an Indian from 1927. Safe to say I thoroughly enjoyed this Saturday 🏁 by @ethangulley

This week marks my ten year anniversary of moving across the country to Los Angeles.

During my time here, every time I drive through Miracle Mile I’m reminded how much I’ve always loved Johnie’s Coffee Shop and wished it would be restored.

Coincidentally, just a couple months ago I was surprised to discover Johnie’s recently restored and re-lit their sign for the first time since 2000. If you know me, you know how much I love a glowing neon sign.

Here’s to ten years of hot sun, cracked concrete, red leather booths, street tacos, sprawling flea markets, old movie theaters, and appreciating this city’s rich plethora of incredible signage and architecture. by @ethangulley
