school was just a hobby fr

as graduation approaches, i sit back and reflect on my senior year. i entered the fall semester with a dream and one final shot to make a mark on the school i’ve called home for the past 4 years. in September i ran production for a show on Tradition’s Plaza which marked the unofficial start of MusicFactory. one phone call to my friend Kareem led me to LSD Market who gave us our first shot at a show and the rest was history. throughout the school year, we’ve hosted 7 shows, impacting over 1,500 attendees, and platformed 17 bands and DJs. we’re an independent organization without any university support, driven by the purpose and passion of my incredible team.

Charlie spent sleepless nights working on posters. Ryan connected us to new artists and sponsors. Charles built our Instagram from scratch. Jake brought creative photoshoots to life. Hayden went home from shooting our shows and immediately edited photos to give us the quickest turnaround in the game. i counted on Deacon, Abbie, and Andrew to hand out energy drinks, put up posters and deliver flyers to every house on east campus. Doc traveled 6 hours from Rockford, IL for every single show we did. we busted our ass to curate the biggest and best experiences possible and open a space for connection. i thank God daily for blessing me with the right people who took a chance on me and saw this entire year through. thank you for supporting and allowing me to grow into a stronger, better man.

if you think what we did this year is easy or by luck, then i’d like to see you try and do it. this is a story for every dreamer. no one will ever hand it to you. you must be willing to work relentlessly and want it more than everyone else. and if you approach every day with love and gratitude, then you will enjoy every step of the process… because in the end, that’s what it’s all about. thank you friends. thank you Mizzou. thank you MusicFactory.

shout out musicfactory! ellie’s been there since the pre musicfactory show to our magical fourth show. she’s so fun and eager to work. her voice reminds me of clairo in a 2019 kinda way. stacked vocals, punchy drums underneath and that mf gone sound gooood. and it DOES sound gooood. go listen to ellie’s verse!

“Red Leather (feat. Ellie Crop)” out now!!
