Happy new month, lovelies. Here’s a long overdue “about Ether Studios” video you probably didn’t ask for. You’re welcome 🙂‍↔️ by @etherstudios_

A few weeks ago, I decided to give Ether Studios all I’ve got, and that’s exactly what I’m doing.

I’ve realized that over the years, quitting has come pretty easily to me. Once something starts to prove difficult, I up and leave.
Not just to me, though, I believe this is a constant temptation for anyone building anything as well.
But I’ve also learned that nothing good comes easy. I’ve learned that whatever beautiful thing I see, admire, and aspire to be like was once, upon a time, a mess that no one wanted to even look at. But someone painstakingly took time to turn it into a thing of beauty.
And so, I am deciding to turn this mess into something beautiful, into something someone will someday look at and be inspired.
Till then, we’ll keep building.
This is Day 5 of a 21-day series where I share with you authentically and vulnerably what it looks like building a handmade business from scratch through my lens.
See you on Day 6.

How can something so cute and soft be so hard to sell?

Honestly? Because most of the time, the hardest part isn’t the market. It’s us.

As creators, we are our own biggest critics. We finish something beautiful and immediately find the thing that’s wrong with it. We tell ourselves it’s not ready. We keep it to ourselves until it’s perfect, and perfect never quite arrives.

But I’ve been sitting with something lately. And that is learning to let go. To share my handmade accessories with the world even when I’m not sure they’re ready. Even if only two people see it.

Because trying whether imperfectly, vulnerably or openly, will always be better than not doing anything at all.

Day 4 of 21. Building a handmade business from scratch, honestly.

Nobody tells you that the hardest part of building a handmade business isn’t the making, it’s making it right.

I have a standard in my head for every crochet accessory I create: a finished piece that looks exactly as beautiful in real life as it did in my imagination.

And closing that gap between the idea and the reality? This takes more attempts, materials, and emotional energy than I ever expected.

I frogged pieces more times than I can count. Started over when something was close but not quite right. Built a pile of rejected versions that never saw the light of day, because I wasn’t willing to put my name on something I wasn’t proud of.

As a small business owner making handmade accessories from scratch, that perfectionism cost me. But it also made me.

Because now I know exactly how far my creativity can stretch. And what I’ve made because of it, I can’t wait to show you.
