It’s been a minute and with all new followers time for a new introduction post!

My name is Priya (37) and I live in Amsterdam. I’m a health care psychologist retrained as a vegan chef cooking with the goal of animal liberation and still work in both fields.

Being the daughter of colonized and oppressed ancestors, a survivor of abuse and growing up in a society full of exploitation, recognizing oppression in and around me came naturally to me when I started facing reality more and more. That’s how I reclaimed being a vegan in 2017 and started to be active for the animals in 2020.

I wish for all beings on this planet to be free and that’s why my focus is on the animals. From what I understand now is that they are the gateway to total liberation for all. If we can extend our justice, compassion and awareness beyond humans, to all living beings we will be able to eliminate all forms of supremacist tendencies from our minds.

On my page I will share with you what my life and plates look like to inspire you to make ethical choices. All recipes to dishes I create here you can either find on Google or are birthed from intuition. Hence, I will not offer you written recipes, but I love to encourage you to investigate yourself since all information is out there. What I am offering more on this platform are the ethics of animal liberation, psychological dynamics in oppressive systems and in the journey of changing these systems (internal and external) and the importance of language in this process. If you choose to, this will be a space for you to cultivate more empowerment and sovereignty in yourself while being embedded and supported in community.

🌱 BEAR WITNESS 🌱

All the piglets (6 months old) you see in this video made with footage from this morning are no longer alive.

They have been gassed, stabbed to death and their bodies have been dissected and wrapped in plastic for people that still think that dead body parts from baby animals are food.

We don’t have to choose this. But before we can, we need to come close and see them. See them for who they are.

Choose justice and compassion over ignorance and avoidance.

Go vegan.

As a survivor of physical and sexual abuse, heir of intergenerational colonial trauma and as a woman of colour, I’ve decided to heal and exceed my personal issues to hold the line for animals.

Us humans we can emancipate ourselves from human oppression (when we are ready to leave our victimhood).

Animals cannot organize to emancipate themselves from human oppression. Therefore I feel it’s my responsibility to do my part in their emancipation.

I stand with all injustices, but will hold the line for the animals because they deserve to be fought for

🌱 PLANTBASED CHOCOLATE CHOUX 🌱

This pastry used to be called ‘moorkoppen’, but since it has a racist connotation (because it translates to head of Moorish people) it was changed to ‘chocolade bol’ (chocolate puff) after public outrage a few years ago.

Now @my_cakes.nl would rather call these ‘droomkoppen’ (dream puffs) since they are plantbased. So no animals exploited and still the same enjoyment!

The droomkoppen are filled with plantbased whipped cream, dipped in chocolate glaze and topped with more cream and fresh fruit. So good and again another example of the uselessness of animal exploited ingredients!!

My life doesn’t only consist of screaming through a megaphone 😅 I’m still cooking and baking too!!

Like this focaccia di patate 🥔 and pomodoro 🍅 e rosmarino.

Naturally plantbased and finished eating it in one day 🤷🏽‍♀️ with help if course 🙆🏽‍♀️

This focaccia is made with yeast dough but really want to try a sourdough one for deeper flavour 😍

RAPPORTAGE CAMPAGNE TEGEN DWANGVOEDING

Deze week werden wij gevolgd door een student journalistiek die een item maakte over dwangvoeding. Eerst bij een protest tegen de verkoop van foie gras bij de HANOS, en vervolgens via een interview met de eigenaar van restaurant Roemer die foie gras serveert.

Laat je niet misleiden, foie gras is ál-tijd dwangvoeding: volgens Europese wetgeving mag je iets niet foie gras noemen als het niet aan ‘kwaliteitseisen’ voldoet. Volgens deze wetgeving mag een lever alleen foie gras worden genoemd als deze bij een eend minimaal 300 gram en bij een gans minimaal 400 gram weeg, een gewicht dat in de praktijk alleen door dwangvoeding wordt bereikt, zoals ook de Europese Commissie zelf bevestigt. Dit betekent ‘diervriendelijke’ varianten zonder dwangvoeding deze naam NIET mogen dragen.

If every vegan would help just one person a year to acknowledge why exploiting animals is wrong and start living by this, the world will be vegan in SEVEN YEARS!! (Thanks @realchipguy for the math and stats!!)

The undercover footage in this video was made by @ongehoordnl on Dutch farms and can be viewed on their website!! Sometimes we need to be reminded of the faces of the victims and their horrible lives to feel the urge to end this injustice NOW.

Wim Dankers van Restaurant Roemer te Utrecht gaat nog liever failliet, dan dat hij het schofterige ‘foie gras’ van de menukaart afhaalt.

Foie gras is geen delicatesse. Het is georganiseerde dierenmishandeling. Eenden en ganzen worden tijdens de laatste weken van hun leven dagelijks met een metalen buis gedwangvoederd. Hun lever zwelt op tot wel tien keer de normale grootte. Miljoenen dieren ondergaan dit jaarlijks.

Voor een luxeproduct dat niemand nodig heeft.

Stop foie gras. Schaam je, meneer Dankers.
