The City of Oceanside employs about 18 full-time lifeguards and 85 seasonal lifeguards. This staffing allows for year-round safety and support for beachgoers along the 3.7-mile stretch of Oceanside beaches. The year 2026 marks the 100th year of Oceanside Lifeguard service.

A Tower 10 lifeguard returns to shore after a prevention during low tide. Tower 10 sits just south of the Oceanside Harbor Beach South Jetty. Primary hazards here are strong rip currents and rough surf.
