Today is the release of Await / Attend, a sound installation made by me and @etsuko.fm for Hypogeum exhibition at @platte.berlin for @berlinartweek , curated by @thomias.r 𓇬

It’s a program that plays music randomly from two banks of sounds (that i composed), it adds effects, reverb & delay & cutoff, decides on pitch and length playback, to create infinite unpredictable variations.

The idea is that you might hear something that you like, wait for it to come back, but it will never come back the same, so you can only attend to what there is.

I’m so proud of this work, it’s an idea i had five years ago when living in amsterdam, and discussing with @enaramillan
I got introduced to @etsuko.fm and when I told him about my idea, he said it should be doable. Half a day later, the program was running and working perfectly. He is truly a genius.

We decided to turn it into a website available for all, it works on desktop and mobile, even when locking the screen!

thank you @thomias.r for the trust and opportunity to present a first sound piece

Await / Attend, my first sound installation made with @etsuko.fm will be presented @platte.berlin for @berlinartweek alongside many great artists, an exhibition curated by @thomias.r
Sept 9-13

Await / Attend is a sound installation created by sound artist Delawhere (Maxime Rogron) and tech-artist etsuko.fm (Ruben Cronie).

The installation is a computer program that generates evolving soundscapes by layering various melodic and non melodic sounds randomly selected from a personal library of over 50 recordings.

Each scene may last only a few seconds or unfold over several minutes. Once started, the program runs continuously on a perpetual loop, with the algorithm determining the composition, timing and duration of each scene.

The near infinite number of possible permutations has the effect of producing fleeting fragments of entirely new music, most of which will never be heard in exactly the same form again. You may choose to wait for a familiar passage to reappear, or simply attend to the one that exists only now. by @etsuko.fm

Recently I released Eterna, my first instrument for Monome Norns. It’s a six-voice sampler and sequencer for making rhythmic and textural patterns. The code is open source, available on my Github.

Alongside my day job, I worked all year round on building its SuperCollider engine and refining the UI/UX and I’m genuinely humbled to see how well it has landed.

Eterna got featured on the homepage of monome.org and received a warm review from @cdmblogs - but it’s even better to see how musicians from the monome community have been adapting it into their workflows. Eterna was already used for a 4-hour live performance and various producers like @asymmetric_cut and @mlogger have shared some work made with it. I’m so thankful that open source platforms like Norns exist to build upon.

Cheers to 2026🥂 That music may bring some hope and that the world may become a slightly better place.

Samples used in this reel are from @la.grain , @delawhere_ and some of my own material.

Did you know that plants can sense human intentions? 🌿 In the 1960s, Cleve Backster's groundbreaking experiments revealed that plants connected to a polygraph would react when he merely thought about harming them—an unseen connection between the plant realm and human consciousness.

Inspired by this concept, Ripples collaborated with artist Sebastian Smink from Studio Smink to create an interactive sound sculpture for Ripples 3. This installation explored the invisible threads between humans and nature, allowing the audience to engage with the piece during the event’s walk-in.

As visitors waved their hand near the plant’s aura, plant-generated melodies wove naturally into the venue's sonic landscape, creating unexpected moments of harmony between nature and performance.

The installation featured a sculpture by Ward Strootman, integrated with immersive technology under Smink's creative direction. Sound design by Delaware and programming by Ruben Cronie and Pieter van Boven brought it to life — creating a magical experience that made connection between the audience and plants possible.

This collaboration offered a space for reflection, a tangible homage to Backster’s theories captured in the book The Secret Life of Plants. It is a reminder of the symbiotic relationship we share with all living things.

I more and more enjoy working with visuals as part of my music production process; it creates a feedback loop between what you want to see and want to hear. Here, I made a custom implementation of an XY oscilloscope in Touchdesigner. It visualizes the audio waveform on a variable 2D grid. A few times per second, the grid’s dimensions change. I experimented with different types of audio to go with it, in the end I went for this Moog DFAM sequence with some minimal harmony added in ableton. #touchdesigner #moog #dfam #audiovisualart #ableton taken in Amsterdam, Netherlands by @etsuko.fm

These are some of my favorite stills from the Fieldtronica project I posted in the past few weeks. I’m still new to filming and editing video - if you have any tips for which (Fujifilm) lenses I could use, or how to improve my color grading - let me know!

And finally the third part of this series - filmed in February, a mellow mix of sunset and nostalgic piano fragments.

There’s something about early spring that just makes the sky look different, the air smell sweeter - as if announcing to the birds, you may start to build your nests now🐣🌿

A small throwback to last winter, when we would spend our evenings indoors, wrapped up in blankets. The warm spring nights that are coming our way now, seemed still far away. I had placed my camera and audio recorder on the docks of a small harbour next to my home. I couldn’t wear gloves because I had to operate the gear; so with -6ºC, I didn’t bother to stay too long outside. But it was the first time that I came home with some footage that I felt like sharing, and from then on I felt like this project was taking shape.

Later, I setup my modular synth, and fed a few piano chords to one of my favorite modules, Makenoise Morphagene. I recorded myself for half an hour and then took out the snippet you hear here as a soundtrack to the footage.

You can watch the session in full resolution on YouTube (link in bio) together with the other 2 pieces I did for this episode.
