More than partners. Closer than ever.⁣

Beyond the stereotypes, there is a longstanding partnership connecting both sides of the Atlantic. From strengthening security and tackling global challenges to creating new opportunities for young people, the EU and Canada are working together to shape a shared future.⁣
⁣
And the next chapter is just around the corner. On 29–30 October, EU and Canadian leaders will meet in Montréal for a Summit to further deepen their partnership.⁣

But what does the daily work of a Delegation look like on the ground?⁣

🍁 At the turn of the last century, Jean Monnet discovered Canada’s pioneering spirit.

He brought that spirit back to Europe.

And went on to become one of the founding fathers of our Union.

Today, that same spirit inspires us to explore a historic first:

Canada becoming the EU’s first associate member. by @euincanada

🇪🇺 🇨🇦 are meeting in Montréal this week to take our partnership further than ever.

We will open a new chapter in our relationship.

Shaped by the values we share.

With our people’s prosperity and security at its heart.

Ensemble, pour notre avenir!

EU-Canada Summit
29-30 October by @euincanada

The weight of what goes unspoken 🎾 🇧🇪

Rising tennis star and elite academy student Julie has one goal: a professional sports career. But when her coach is suspended after a tragic scandal, questions about abuse and a culture of silence become impossible to ignore. Executive produced by tennis champion Naomi Osaka, JULIE KEEPS QUIET (dir. Leonardo Van Dijl) explores the delicate balance between ambition, loyalty, and the powers that play on the conscience.

🇧🇪 Presented by @belgiumincanada, witness the scales tip as the weight of allegiance is tested against the truth at the 41st European Union Film Festival (EUFF).

🍁⭐️ Canada as associate member of the EU?

It has a nice ring to it 💍 by @euincanada

Every strong partnership has its defining moment. This is ours: at the 21st EU-Canada Summit on 29 and 30 October, we are launching an Alliance for the Future to build a common prosperity and economic security space.

It builds on solid ground. The EU and Canada have shared a trade agreement since 2017. Thanks to CETA, EU exports to Canada and Canadian investment in the EU now support almost 700,000 EU jobs, and trade has grown by more than 80%.

Trade is only part of the story. Find everything you need to know about the Summit via the link in bio. by @euincanada

🥯 I wasn’t able to catch a Habs game while in Montreal but I got this cool jersey @_slafkovsky_ and got to see how the oldest bagels in town were made.

So, it’s a win for me.

Thank you @stviateurbagel for this tasty treat and a lovely visit! by @euincanada

In my address to the Montréal Council on Foreign Relations, I reflected on the historic roots of the long-standing friendship between the EU and Canada.

I also participated in the Canada-EU Business Forum, with Prime Minister @markjcarney, President @ursulavonderleyen and European and Canadian business leaders.

All these exchanges showed the broad spectrum of the already deep EU-Canada relations – and that our greatest opportunities and successes still lie ahead.

Our relationship is so special that we want to create something new: our association will be the closest, deepest and most unique of its kind. by @euincanada

A very positive exchange with @fp_champagne, @julie_dabrusin, @jessikaroswall and Maria Luís Albuquerque 🇪🇺🇨🇦

In a complex world, Europe and Canada working together is a message of confidence and optimism.

The green agenda is also a competitiveness agenda: stronger industries, more investment and more resilient economies.

A lot to keep building together! by @euincanada

The countdown is on: EU-Canada Summit 2026 🇪🇺🇨🇦

On 29-30 October, Prime Minister Carney will host the 21st EU–Canada Summit in Montreal, bringing together European Council President António Costa, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and High Representative Vice President Kaja Kallas.

The EU Delegation in Ottawa is working hard behind the scenes to prepare for this important meeting, taking place at a historical time in EU-Canada relations.

At the 2025 Summit in Brussels, the EU and Canada adopted a New EU–Canada Strategic Partnership of the Future and signed a Security and Defence Partnership.

Over the past year, this momentum has continued to grow. The upcoming Summit will be an opportunity to take stock of these achievements, and to forge an alliance for the future.

Stay tuned as we prepare for the next chapter in the EU–Canada partnership. 🇪🇺🇨🇦

A very inspiring stop at Montréal’s Biosphère with @jessikaroswall, @julie_dabrusin and @diana_foxcarney 🌿

Climate action, nature protection and resilience are deeply connected. And places like this help turn complex challenges into something people can see, understand and engage with.

A very good exchange on how Europe and Canada can keep working together for a more resilient future 🇪🇺🇨🇦 by @euincanada

I want young people to have more opportunities to create, discover & put their ideas into practice. Technology should help them do that, on their own terms.

In Montréal, I met Marc Miller, Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture & followed exchanges with youth organisations from Canada + Europe.

We need young people involved in the choices we make about technology. Their ideas should help shape what our cooperation delivers.

& I had my first time Poutine with Minister Miller & it tasted so good!! I recommend this to you very much! 🙏
