A month ago, I graced the stage of this national pageant and had the privilege of witnessing the beauty, grace, confidence and excellence that made a night such as this truly unforgettable.👑✨

The journey was truly one for the books, the memories made will forever be etched in my heart and the souls I connected with will always be a part of my life. 🥰❤️

As the pageant came to an end, I was overcome with pride for my country and deeply inspired by the opportunity to be part of something so meaningful. I left the stage with a renewed sense of purpose and a burning desire to use my voice and my platform to make a lasting impact in my sweet parish of Westmoreland and by extension our heartbeat ,Jamaica. 🇯🇲💚🖤💛

All my love to the beautiful, creative and talented @bellenda_placard who ensured I looked like a Queen that night 😘😘. Book her guys!!!!!!

And shoutout to @crowned_bymia_beautysalon who ensured my hair lasted for the entire two weeks of residency lol. Y’all I prayed over this hair 🤣 to last and the Lord delivered, even in the little things.

Also disclaimer when you see me posting my festival content now, just pretend that we’re still in the Emancipendence season 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲 because technically (and not because I’m a lawyer) we do have to celebrate the whole year. 🤣

The 28-year-old Attorney-at-Law and public officer from Peggy Barry in Grange Hill, Shanique Sommerville, who is passionate about legal literacy, mentorship and community service, returned to the Miss Westmoreland Festival Queen stage for a second time and claimed the coveted 2026 parish title. She hopes to inspire the youth within her community, and will engage in a parish project to help to support Mental Health Wellness in her area, and educate Jamaicans about Legal Literacy.

Shanique also walked away with several sectional awards, including Most Active in the Community, Most Culturally Aware, Most Poised and Most Popular on Social Media.

Now, she takes her journey to the national stage, where she will represent Westmoreland at the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen National Coronation on August 1. 🇯🇲 by @euqinahs.__

Empowering the next generation is one of the greatest ways we can invest in Jamaica’s future. 🇯🇲✨

I was truly honoured to participate in the Youth Empowerment & Career Development Programme as the Miss Westmoreland Festival Queen 2026, where I had the opportunity to engage with young people, share my experiences and expertise, and encourage them to see the possibilities that exist for their futures.

Sometimes all a young person needs is knowledge, encouragement, and someone willing to say, “You can do it too.”

I’m grateful for the opportunity to pour into Jamaica’s youth, to share what I have learned along my journey, and to continue using my platform to inspire, empower and create meaningful impact. 💛💚🖤

Our youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are the change-makers of today. 🇯🇲

It was a privilege and an honour to visit the Office of the Prime Minister today, but to have visited it in the capacity of Miss Westmoreland Festival Queen made it even more special and memorable.
