👕 If you could change one thing about how clothes are made, bought or used, what would it be?

With this question, three of our Young Eco Heroes invited guests during the European Researchers’ Night at the 1st Experimental Junior High School of Chania, Greece to join the discussion on sustainable fashion.

♻️ They shared what they had learned about textiles and the impact of fast fashion, presented survey results from their school, and invited visitors to reflect on their own choices. Visitor’s ideas for more sustainable fashion included mending and upcycling clothes, buying second-hand, donating what they no longer need, and choosing fewer, better-quality items.

Discovering EURECA-PRO's Flagships | 4/4

Europe needs more raw materials to accomplish its green transition. But can we meet this growing demand without simply extracting more?

The Sustainable Mining & Resources Flagship brings together expertise in mining and mineral processing, recycling and circular economy, environmental sciences, and social sciences to rethink how we extract, use, recycle and manage resources.

The Flagship also looks beyond resources themselves, considering the territories and communities affected by mining activities, both during their renewal and after mine closure.

Its ambition is to build an active European community through joint research projects, student exchanges, interdisciplinary education and stronger links with industry, public authorities and local communities.

😃 If you brave the rain and wind to find new ways to do good for the environment and society, you're a true sustainability enthusiast!

🌱 Numerous visitors attended the Market for Sustainability and Diversity in Freiberg, organised by Freiberg Agenda 21. Alongside more than 30 associations, organisations and farms, we showed visitors how they can consume sustainably and use resources responsibly in their daily lives. TU Bergakademie Freiberg made the concept of future sustainable production very tangible:

💡 The Institute of Machine Elements, Engineering Design and Manufacturing showcased flower pots and lampshades which are produced using 3D printing from waste materials such as wood shavings or nut shells.

🏗️ At the booth of the Institute of Thermal Process Engineering, Environmental Process Engineering and Natural Product Process Engineering, visitors could test whether a simple hand-pressed hemp board made of hemp fibres could be suitable as a new type of building material.

😃 Welcome back! Our Young Eco Heroes are taking the stage once again. 👏

🏡 New edition, new theme: About 30 pupils from Mikołów, Poland and Chania, Greece will work on designing a sustainable housing concept for the future that is adapted to challenging environmental conditions, such as an extreme urban environment, a hot and dry climate with water shortages, or a flood-prone area.

☀️ Again, they will be mentored by their teachers and professors of the Silesian University of Technology and Technical University of Crete.

👉 We cannot wait to see them getting in action as of October. Stay tuned for their work and follow their progress here with us!
