Rest easy, Derek.

I’ve known you for over 20 years—since the days we skated together at the Arcata Skatepark while I was at HSU, squeezing in sessions between classes. You were always full of energy, positivity, and kindness.

You gave so much back to the community without ever asking for anything in return. Every time I organized a skate contest, you showed up with donations—no hesitation. Even just last week, we met up at your shop and you hooked me up with gear for the Get Out and Play Day contest in Eureka. You wanted to come, but had that camping trip planned.

You’ve always been such a big part of the local skateboarding scene, and your impact will be felt for a long time. I’m going to miss you, man.

Thank you for everything. 🙏💔 taken in Ampt Skate Shop by @eurekaskateshop

What a fun day at the City of Eureka’s Skateboard Competition! 🛹

As part of the Get Out and Play Day celebration, we saw an amazing turnout—tons of young skaters showed up to compete in their divisions, with proud parents cheering them on! It was such a great opportunity to support local youth and help build our skate community. I’m truly grateful to be part of something that gives back and brings people together.

Huge thanks to our generous sponsors for donating skate goods and prizes to our winners:
🛍️ Ampt Skate Shop
🛠️ Humboldt Skate Lab
🌊 Local Boys Surf and Skate (Crescent City)
🎨 Sonny Wong
🌱 Satori Wheels
🔥 JC Skateboards
👊 Las Chicaz
🛹 Eureka.Skate
🏡 Lucky Star Realty
🎧 DJ Goldy Locks
🎥 Barno Productions
…and many more!

Events like this wouldn’t be possible without your support. Thank you for helping make it a day to remember! 🙌
