Posthumorously Pete: How I wish I could relive that day 17 years ago, when we picked up puppy Pete from Morecambe Bay. I often wonder about his litter sister Roxy, who apparently used to bash him up. Posthumorously Pete: What’s your most treasured possessions? Yesterday we had the gendarmes knock on our door to say pack a bag and get ready to evacuate as a bushfire was coming our way. This is the second time in our lives we faced this. The first time in Spain we stupidly ignored the recommendation to go ( it wasn’t an order ) and watched the mountains around us go up in flames. Our village wasn’t touched and we were lucky. This photo was from that day. Yesterday we took the advice more seriously ( have we finally matured?) and while we went around packing a bag for us, a bag for Olivia and Bodger, gathering together passports and house papers, we started discussing two things 1) why hadn’t we previously made a list of things to pack and 2) should we try to put some of our beautiful possessions in the car too? We had time, so do we pack more clothes ( more practical) or grab our some of our lovely artwork from @stephaniecowburn , @paultuppeny and paintings from Cornwall that bring back beautiful memories of Pete? Obviously we had time on our side yesterday as it wasn’t an immediate order to evacuate, and in the end the wind turned and so the order never came. But one day it will. Posthumorously Pete: Today we finally gave away Pete’s chariot. That chariot meant Pete could get out and about with us and the Pods, conserving his energy until we got to the right place for him to sniff and bimble about. During our later travels it kept him off hot tarmac or pavements and got his beady eyes at table height in restaurants.After 19 months of moving it out of the way whenever we needed to get the lawnmower out, it starts it’s new life helping the dogs at the amazing @twilightdogshome to get out and about. #dogchariot #dogswithstyle #posthumorouslypete #olddogsrock #olddogsrule #borderterrierlove #borderterrier #dogswithoutborders #dogsinfrance #dogshelpingdogs by @euro_pete

Posthumorously Pete: some manky ball spam from 5th April 2019. This week we unfortunately had to say goodbye to the happy smiley Gordi 💔 some of you may remember him from our APROP days when we fostered him during one of Spain’s dreadful storms and the kennels at the dog shelter weren’t waterproof. He was a dog that had known love and a home, but unfortunately his owner died in the campo and Gordi was found starving some weeks later. He was adopted by our lovely friends in France and had 7 years of the most chilled life with them, with long walks, sofas and love. Who knew then that 4 years later on this day, we would also move to France - 20 minutes away from them! We will miss your welcoming waggy tail dear Gordi, but are so glad we knew you 😔💔❤️‍🩹 . We always thought you were like a bigger scruffier version of Pete- gentle, smiling and content with life. Posthumorously Pete: love is ……. 🥰 Pete was never phased when we fostered dogs or when we adopted Olivia and Bodger. I wouldn’t say they became best friends, but everyone rubbed along together, never stealing food or toys, occasionally sharing beds. I loved the moments when Pete and Olivia would play together - chasing each other around the concreted campervan park in Spain. I reckon they would have been firm mates if they had met earlier in life.
