“Skating the 912”

for the last ten weeks i was in a documentary photography class. Within the class, i was tasked with doing a 10 week personal lead project with a topic of my choosing. In the end, i decided to follow skateboarding and its culture.

Thank you to all the workers, the boys who hang out at clockwork skateshop, and everyone i met on the streets for letting me follow them around, ask as many questions as possible, and for telling me their stories. This project would not have been possible without you guys letting me hang around.

While this is not my usual photography post, i wanted to show the design 2 final project my group did. This project was inspired by the card game we’re not really strangers, a game full of meaningful prompts to really make you dig deep into yourself and open up to who you’re playing with. While the project did get brought down by the rain and the fact that we ran out of post-it notes (thanks to those who used receipts and leaves) we ended up with 57 responses & lots of posts of the project on social media.

Thank you all for your beautiful notes and taking the time to look at the project me, julia, and nyx put up. sending all of you endless amounts of love.
