Happy #internationalpageantday 👑

The @missamerica, @missamericaok, and @missamericasteenok organizations didn’t just give me a crown, they gave me a future.

I’m one of the first in my family to graduate from college, and the first to do it debt free from a private university.

My mother and grandparents worked tirelessly so I could have a chance to chase something bigger—and thanks to this organization, I did.

I also made history as the first Black Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen. That moment wasn’t just for me—it was for every little girl who needed to know she could be next.

Every appearance, every classroom I teach CPR in, every step I take on and off stage is shaped by this sisterhood and the values it’s given me.

I’ve been called the “Queen of the Hearts” for as long as I can remember.

I was born on Valentine’s Day with a congenital heart murmur, and my grandparents gave me this nickname. A few years ago, I had “Queen of the Hearts” tattooed on my arm in my grandmother’s handwriting. She has congestive heart failure, so having her handwriting there means more to me than I can really put into words.

Then, my mom had a heart attack.

I knew something was wrong because I knew the signs and that she needed help immediately. Watching my mom become a heart attack survivor changed the way I saw everything I had spent years learning about CPR, emergency preparedness, and heart health.

Service became a way of taking my family’s heart history and doing something about it. I teach CPR. I advocate for AED access and CPR education in schools. I talk about women’s heart attack symptoms. I teach kids that knowing how to respond in a cardiac emergency can make you the person who changes the outcome.

I used to think “Queen of the Hearts” was just a nickname my grandparents gave me.

Now I know it’s my purpose.

I was honored to attend the DC CEO Impact NOW Awards at the National Museum of African American History and Culture with @pageantrelations, celebrating leaders and changemakers who are shaping what’s possible in business, culture, and community.

One of my favorite parts of being Miss DC is getting to learn from the people building the future of this city and carrying their communities forward. I left reminded that influence means very little if it isn’t used to create opportunity for someone else. by @ev.y

My people 🫶🏾

I really am the product of “it takes a village.” From my Miss A girls to my friends and family, thank you for making this a week I will remember for the rest of my life.

@danajoysmarter, thank you for absolutely everything. Every food run, every alteration, every sponsorship you helped secure, every word of encouragement, and every mock you organized gave me the ability to walk onto that stage with confidence, poise, and purpose. I could not have done this week without you.

To my pageant uncles, thank you for stepping into every role imaginable. This has been a five year dream, and you have been there for every step of the way. I am so lucky to have had you in my corner.

Jason, every phone call, every conversation about mindset, radical self acceptance, and loving my inner child helped me find peace with myself regardless of the outcome. That was one of the greatest gifts you could have given me.

To all my Miss A sisters, I love you endlessly. This week gave me friendships I know I will carry far beyond this competition. This is just the beginning for us. ❤️

And to the rest of my village who I couldn’t name individually, thank you for loving me, supporting me, believing in me, and giving me grace while I chased one of my wildest dreams. I am forever changed by the love you have poured into me.
