Calling all producers!

Sometimes the line between what a stage manager does and what a producer does can be blurry. And that can mean you are taking on more than you need to.

I've created a page (and spent way too long in Canva 😄) that lists what duties I can offer as an SM and ASM. You'll find this in my Linktree.

🩵 I wish I wasn’t the person that takes 2-3 months to post photos from a performance, but I fear that will never be me 😄

I am in love with these photos from @theapprenteasewa taken by the exquisite @kdariusphotography !

The idea behind this act was simple… as in keep it as simple as possible.

I feel most confident in black high waisted pants (RIP the stage manager pants I hacked up to make this routine) and a plain singlet/t-shirt so that’s what I did.

I moved in the way I wanted to move.

I fought my instinct every step of the way to add more and more reveals, costume pieces and embellishments. The simplicity of the costume was key.

I resisted buying new, and used things I already owned:
- Rhinestones harvested from other costumes
- Body suit corset I bought for a previous act (that I only performed once 🫠)
- Aforementioned stage manager pants
- Gloves I don’t even remember buying
- A headpiece I bought in Melbourne years ago
- Removal pieces I had collected over my time (magnets, ribbon, pull thread)

It felt real good coming off stage at the Apprentease WA finals, unfortunately shortly after my brain got the better of me and I became hyper critical of everything I did and wondered if I would ever be good enough. But I learnt from it, I grew, I accepted.

The judges feedback was so spot on and helpful, they really all put their heart and soul into their task and I am so appreciative. I’ve changed somethings in the act based on that advice and other things I kept as they were because they were an intentional choice.

Every performer bought their all to that stage and every act was deserving of so much applause and praise! Saying that I am proud of the WA burlesque community is such an understatement.

I encourage everyone to enter Apprentease if it’s something they want! Remember the biggest challenge will never be the choreography, the costuming, the reveals and removals. The biggest challenge will always be your mindset and not losing yourself and your art in the process 🩵 taken in The Rechabite by @eva.sincere

Having the chance to be backstage manager for the third year in a row at Mx Burlesque WA this weekend was a dream! Being amongst the sparkle, the glamour, the rhinestones, the camaraderie but also the stress, the anticipation, the tears and the nerves. Soaking in the former while trying to help with the latter, it just feels like where I am supposed to be ✨

Whether I’m a backstage manager, a kitten/ASM, or an audience member, @mxburlesquewa is one of my favourite nights! Enjoy this little journey down memory lane of my time working for the competition. One of my greatest accomplishments of 2025 was being the stage manager for the @belmontcouncilwa After Dark cabaret program back in July at the incredible, transformed Glasshouse venue.

Two days of bump in, a six day program, 8 shows in total by superstars @rhondaburchmore @griffiths_micky @mama.alto Adult Storytime (by @sookjeet) and A Timeless Gathering with support from top notch musicians @dsusmusic @gregbrentonmusic @jackjackearle @karl_florisson @joshua__haines .

To witness the space transform from a natural daylight-filled blank space to a neon cabaret stage, and transform again into an intimate dinner show venue - mind blowing! Thanks @damesspiegsandreads for recommending me!

They were long days but they were filled with great people. I learnt so much, with the number one lesson being that it takes a village. Shoutout to everyone in the team including @one20productions @phenomenon_events @cyclus_ and the Belmont team Jemma, Andrea, Sarah, Louis and more!

It was such a privilege to participate in the inaugural Beginner LX Training two-day workshop from @theblueroomtheatre taught by the incredible @rhi.p.art with many helpful tips from @simonnematthews_ !! Next time an EOI comes up for it, I can’t recommend it enough!
