Hold your breath... I’m finally sharing what I’ve been working on all this time! The "Eva in Ancient Rome" project is reaching a whole new level. Here is the official cover of my book under the pen name Eva Aeterna! 🏛🔥
Every time I look at this ornate design, the sacred flame, and the sunset rays over the ancient sea, I get goosebumps. And here is the official synopsis of the novel:

📜 OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS

“THE FLAME OF FATE: Vestal Virgin of the Dying Republic”

What does a modern 21st-century woman do when her familiar world shatters in a heartbeat, throwing her into the brutal reality of Ancient Rome?

The Great Roman Republic is dying in the fires of bloody civil wars. Factions of Caesarians, followers of Pompey, and legions loyal to the Senate tear the realm apart. Thrust into the center of a foreign conflict, Eva faces a harsh choice: remain a helpless victim of a bygone era or forge her own fate with genuine steel.

Swapping light clothing for battle armor and earning the patronage of Legate Decimus Laelius, she rises from a lost stranger to a woman leading an elite escort of equites.

Now, Eva faces a profound moral dilemma: how far can one alter the course of history using knowledge of the future? What would be the right choice, and what could trigger a catastrophe that alters the world beyond recognition? Where lies the line of what is forbidden?

Ahead lies the road to the Eternal City, political conspiracies, deadly schemes, the birth of the Second Triumvirate, and the bloodiest civil war for absolute power. Yet behind desert marches, burning triremes, and secret alliances lies something deeper—the sacred mark of the Goddess Vesta.

Why was Eva chosen to bridge two millennia? And can she survive betrayal, warfare, and the twists of fate without losing herself in the twilight of the Republic?

💬 A question for you: What do you think of the design and the concept itself? Did it manage to capture the atmosphere, drama, and grandeur of Ancient Rome? Let me know in the comments, it means the world to me! 👇

Part 46: Prayer Across Eternity

The night poured through me in a chaotic blur of ragged, feverish dreams. I drifted into a heavy stupor, only to surface into reality for a brief moment before plunging into a new vision—vivid, sharp, and cutting into my eyes with cruel realism, like scenes on a massive cinema screen.
I dreamed of battle. Land and sea shook from the thunder of war. I saw the legions of Octavian and Mark Antony clash in a savage, fratricidal slaughter to carve up power and domain. Bronze clashed, clouds of arrows filled the sky, torn bodies collapsed into dust and sea foam, and men who spoke the same tongue drove gladii into the chests of yesterday’s brothers-in-arms with snarls of hatred. And I stood in the middle of this utter hell—an ethereal, invisible spirit, powerless to stop the madness.
Then the dream instantly shifted scenery, transporting me two millennia into the future—to my native 21st century. And there, the very same war raged on. Once again, brother raised hand against brother. But instead of the clashing of swords, the air was ripped apart by the terrifying, brain-piercing drone of strike UAVs, the whistle of cruise missiles, and the dull thud of artillery shells. Concrete high-rises crumbled, the earth burned, and people died all the same—just so someone at the pinnacle of power could redistribute maps, wealth, and spheres of influence.
Toward morning, I awoke in a cold sweat. My heart hammered against my ribs like a trapped bird. The bedroom was blanketed in a deafening, sticky pre-dawn darkness, and that darkness seemed to settle as a physical weight upon my mind.
Through this gloom, a single, sobering thought pierced like a sharp needle of ice: centuries succeed one another, eras crumble into dust, empires rise and fall, yet human nature remains completely unchanged. Power, influence, and money—three bloody idols to which humanity relentlessly sacrifices millions of lives. In ancient Rome, in the Middle Ages, in my 21st century...

Part 45: Rebirth in the Golden Hour (2)

A majestic panorama unfolded before my eyes. Rome was visible from here in all its monumental glory. In this golden hour, the setting sun bathed the tiled roofs, the white marble colonnades of the Capitol, the bend of the Tiber, and the ancient bridges in amber light, over which microscopic figures of citizens bustled.
The setting sun... The sunset of the Republic...
That thought, striking my mind like a sudden flash, instantly tore me from my sweet reveries. I stood leaning against the cool balustrade, gazing at the horizon. How deeply I wished to succumb to this temptation right now! To simply forget everything. To erase the past and the future from my memory. To stay here, enjoying the beauty of each passing day—for with such comfort, life indeed seemed heavenly and serene...
Yet I knew all too well: this serenity was merely a fragile illusion. Soon, this beautiful city would choke on its own blood and the blood of others. I had no right to allow myself to rest longer than this single day. Decisions had to be made. Difficult, fateful decisions. And time was catastrophically short. Any day now, young Octavian will send his envoys to the Senate with an ultimate demand—to appoint him consul. And the Senate, drunk on its own grandeur and blindly following Cicero's rhetoric, will reject this demand with arrogant laughter. After all, according to Rome's ancient law—the Lex Villia Annalis—one could only become consul upon reaching forty-three years of age. And Octavian was barely nineteen! From the standpoint of the law, he was a mere boy who had no right to hold any public office whatsoever, despite his victory at Mutina.

Part 45: Rebirth in the Golden Hour

There is a distinct, incomparable bliss in simply allowing one’s body to relax after long months of wandering, grueling battles, the dust of endless roads, and the humiliation of slavery. To wash away the dirt that seemed to have permanently embedded itself into every pore, every scratch, and every crack in my skin—that was something I had forgotten to even dream about in subterranean dungeons and slave markets.
After bidding farewell to Aurelia at dawn, I collapsed onto a soft couch and slept a dreamless sleep until almost evening. Upon waking, I was pleasantly surprised: Publius proved to be not merely a polite host, but a man who understood with surgical precision exactly what a woman who had been through hell needed. Waiting for me was not only a sumptuous table filled with juicy fruits and chilled wine, but also a fully prepared private bath.
One of the greatest, undeniable gifts of ancient Roman civilization to humanity is the termae.
Dense, enveloping steam, hot marble, aromatic oils with notes of lavender and myrrh... I submerged myself in warm water, closed my eyes, and nearly groaned from the overwhelming pleasure. But Publius did not stop at a mere bath. Skilled slave women were sent to serve his guest. Their deft, strong fingers kneaded my exhausted body—sore from prolonged stress and swordplay—with deep expertise, chasing the accumulated pain out of my muscles. I simply shut off my mind, finally allowing myself to dissolve in this day of absolute rest and indulgence. I had suffered for this day. I had earned it.
After the baths, another surprise awaited me. At the exit of the bathhouse, the slaves dressed me in a magnificent, intricately tailored gown of snow-white fabric layered with dark blue cloth embroidered with gold thread—fitting for the noblest patrician matrons of the Republic. The girls arranged my hair, laying it in soft waves and securing it with an elegant gold tiara, brought a glow to my skin using fragrant ointments, and set to work on my manicure.

Part 44: Omen of the Storm (2)

We talked for hours, detailing my wanderings until twilight settled over the villa. Late in the evening, Senator Publius returned, bowed politely, ensured we lacked nothing, and departed once more. Servants refreshed the wine and candles, leaving us in the quiet of the night.

"We have the entire night ahead of us," I said softly. "Tell me, what is happening in the capital? Who is consul now? While enslaved and wandering the deserts, I completely lost track of time... I only know it is summer."

"Oh, yes, of course!" Aurelia brightened. "After all, Vesta sent you here with a grand purpose, and the affairs of the Republic are more vital than ever. The main news is this: young Master Octavian, Caesar's adopted son, defeated Mark Antony's army near Mutina! Though both of our consuls—Hirtius and Pansa—perished in that battle. Power now rests entirely with the Senate, led by the wisest Cicero. We, the priestesses, believe Octavian is favored by the gods, sent to bring long-awaited peace. Cicero himself declared before the battle that the young man shows great promise and heeds his counsel in all things. Mark even whispered to me that Cicero secretly boasts he controls Octavian entirely. By the way, Mark is no ordinary centurion; he serves in the Senate's secret guard... So, Eva, long-awaited peace will finally come to the Republic!"

After her enthusiastic speech, a heavy, ringing silence fell over the terrace.

Aurelia sat opposite me, looking on with naive, childlike faith, full of love and purity. In that instant, my heart squeezed with burning pain. How? How could I tell her the truth? How could I explain to this innocent soul the abyss of tragedy that was about to swallow Rome? How could I speak of the "wise" fool Cicero, who believed he could tame a young lion?

Part 44: Omen of the Storm

Like an eternity or a fleeting instant, we stood frozen in each other's arms in the middle of the scorching arena. Around us, a crowd of thousands raged, chanting and exploding in ecstatic shouts, but that roar sounded somewhere beyond reality to us. It was our moment of pure, ringing happiness, and in the entire world, nobody existed except the two of us.

Senator Publius and the centurion with his guards approached, standing slightly to the side. They waited in silence, showing noble respect and granting us the chance to prolong this fragile moment. In the background, the arena attendants were already hurriedly dragging the motionless body of the Murmillo across the bloody sand. Yet we refused to let go of one another, as if fearing that unclasping our fingers would cause this reunion to dissolve like an illusory dream—one we could only whisper prayers for in the deepest recesses of our souls.

"Dominae, I am forced to draw your attention," the centurion broke the silence gently yet firmly. "You have entertained the plebeians long enough, and I believe it is time for us to depart from this place. As for those who brought you here—their trail has gone cold. My men found no one, but the search continues."

I reluctantly released Aurelia from my embrace. Hand in hand, we followed the centurion through the dark arches beneath the amphitheater stands.

"What is his name?" I whispered. "Mark," Aurelia replied, squeezing my hand even tighter, as though afraid I might vanish again.

"Centurion Mark!" I called out to him as we reached the litter. "Have your men check who placed bets on me. There must be a substantial sum involved."

Mark paused for a second, nodded in understanding, and was about to give orders, but the logical puzzle snapped together in my mind instantly.

Part 43: Embrace of Fate

To stand upon the scorching sand of the great arena as the victor is an utterly indescribable, overwhelming sensation. A crowd of thousands chants, exploding into a single, jubilant roar, while a true tempest blazes within my chest. It isn't merely joy—it is a wild, intoxicating cocktail of emotions fused into one frantic, unstoppable rush.
First comes the pure, primal bliss of survival: I am alive! Wild adrenaline still whips through my veins, making every single cell in my body vibrate with incredible drive. Pride swells within me—I, an ordinary woman armed with two short swords, managed to overcome a hardened, seasoned titan. Yet instantly, a quiet, stinging bitterness pierces my heart like a needle. I gaze at the motionless body of the Murmillo... He wasn't truly my enemy. He was just as much an enslaved, powerless captive thrown into this bloody meat grinder to amuse the masses. He had likely taken many lives in this arena, but that realization doesn't make the burden of his death any lighter.
Alongside that ache blossoms a reverent, deep gratitude to the Goddess for my salvation, fused with quiet awe for the knowledge from the distant future that once again dragged me from the jaws of death. In this fleeting moment, I finally understood in the depths of my soul those whom historians called the "gods of the arena." They stood just like this under the wild shrieks of the plebeians, drinking in this unique, intoxicating rush of a single fleeting second.
When you live on the razor's edge, right on the thin boundary between being and nothingness, life becomes unbearably vivid. You begin to greedily drink in every breath of air, feeling every thud of your heart with all your soul, because you never know what the very next instant will bring...
And in that moment, cutting through the settling golden dust and the roar of the stands, she comes running across the sand toward me.

Part 42: Dance with Shadows

In moments of mortal danger, the human brain switches into a distinct mode: time seems to slow its pace, stretching seconds into thick molasses, while perception turns razor-sharp.
The enemy stood before me. He was in no rush to attack—the seasoned Murmillo assumed a tight defensive stance, safely crouched behind his heavy scutum with his short blade thrust forward. This was my chance. And so I began my deadly dance.
Bending my knees slightly and spreading my arms with the swords to the sides, I started to shift laterally with smooth, fluid grace. My mind frantically calculated the geometry: I already had the angle I needed. Just a couple of steps, a little bit more... And a bright ray of sunlight, beating low from behind my back, flashed right into the narrow slits of his massive helmet.
A split-second of blindness! I didn't hesitate for a single beat. With an upward pitch, I hurled one of my swords straight at his head. I knew that the instincts of a seasoned fighter would force him to parry the throw and swat the flying blade aside. But that was all I needed—to buy fractions of a second and break his focus.
Almost simultaneously with the throw, I made a violent, desperate surge forward. With my free left hand, I locked onto the top edge of his shield with an iron grip, pulled myself up in a leap, and threw my entire body weight and momentum onto the scutum, driving it down toward the dirt. The titan's bare neck was completely exposed.
Finding a fleeting foothold on the bronze trim of his shield, I twisted my body mid-air and struck downward with brutal precision—aiming straight into the base of the Murmillo's neck.

Part 41: It's Her!

The gate opposite rose with a grind, and out of the corridor's half-darkness stepped a living fortress. A Murmillo.
At the mere sight of him, a nausea of cold despair seized my throat. Massive and imposing, like an enraged bull, he crouched behind a heavy rectangular scutum shield that covered him almost entirely—from chin to knees. For armor, I had nothing but a lightweight leather outfit, and in my hands, two short swords. The arena organizers had decided to frame me as a dimachaerus, banking on theatrics and my womanly agility. I would have laughed at their foolishness if fear hadn't choked my breath. I had trained with a sword and a small buckler! Two blades against a wall of bronze and oak wasn't a fighting style—it was a death sentence.
“O Vesta, I rely only upon you now... Without a miracle, I won't walk out of here,” I prayed frantically under my breath.
To simply run around on the scorching sand? I wouldn't last long—the heat and the weight of the blades would drain what little energy I had left. Murmillones are masters of endurance tactics. They huddle behind their shield, keeping their body entirely covered, waiting for their opponent to exhaust themselves in futile strikes before landing a single, fatal thrust.
The giant approached without haste, walking with a calm, heavy, measured tread. From the narrow slits of his colossal helmet with a tall crest, the cold, indifferent glare of a predator locked onto me. He saw my confusion, felt my helplessness, and sensed not a single threat in me.
Twenty paces... Fifteen... My brain burned as I desperately scrambled through my memory for anything that could save me. Then it hit me: the sun was low behind my back! A frame from a movie flashed in my mind. What if... This might be my only risky chance...
Only a few steps separated me from the enemy when a desperate, piercing female voice shattered the roar of the crowd.
For a fraction of a second, I whipped my gaze toward the upper tiers. My heart constricted with a wild, unbelievable surge of hope. Standing in the balcony, amidst purple togas, was a girl in pristine white robes.

Part 40: Upon the Arena of Fate

Crossing the bridge, I took my first step onto the ancient cobblestones of the greatest city in history. Had it not been for my plight, I would have gladly strolled through the narrow streets of the Aventine, and then descended to the Forum itself to immerse myself in the daily life I had previously known only through dry lines of history books and movie scenes. But my bitter reflections were abruptly cut short by a sudden stop.
Our column was intercepted by armed men who looked like the city guard. A brief, curt exchange with the convoy leader—and the guard's finger pointed directly at me. A cold shiver ran through my whole body: so they were expecting me... But who?
I was roughly separated from the rest of the line of slaves heading deeper into the city. For a few moments, the chief of the guards scanned my nearly bare body with a calculating gaze. My tunic looked more like a filthy rag that stray dogs had spent a long time fighting over. The man smirked maliciously and signaled to four sturdy slaves carrying a lectica—a closed litter for nobility with cloth curtains.
A quick command—and I was forced to climb inside. Tightly sealed off by thick fabric, the walls robbed me of the chance to see the road. Under the rhythmic swaying of the litter and the heavy tread of the slaves, what little strength I had left completely vanished, and I fell into a deep, heavy sleep.
I was awakened by bright daylight. The pulled-back curtains blinded my eyes. As it turned out, I had been delivered to a wealthy villa. Judging by the sun's position, it was late afternoon—I had been carried for more than half a day. A guard yanked my arm and led me to a semi-basement room with a high ceiling. The room was austere: a bed, a rough table, a chair, a pitcher, and a basin of water. Soon two slave women arrived, ordered to wash and comb my hair. Exhausted to the limit, I silently allowed them to do their job. Instead of my tattered rags, they gave me a minimalist leather outfit—something you'd barely wear to a beach.

Part 39: Whirlwind of Fate

For six or seven days, we were relentlessly tossed by the sea waves. In the stifling, dim hold, it was easy to lose track of time, but I kept a close eye on the narrow slivers of light piercing through the deck planks. The ship sailed exclusively at night, anchoring by day to hide in jagged, rocky coves. Unsurprising—the entire Mediterranean was strictly controlled by the fleets of the Senate and Gnaeus Pompey. My historical knowledge suggested we were heading north, navigating between the secret coves of Sardinia and Corsican inlets along ancient smuggling routes. But what good was theory? I sat bound on the filthy planks of the hold, the final destination of this voyage remaining an absolute mystery.

On the seventh day, the pattern suddenly changed: the vessel raised all sails and pressed forward at top speed in broad daylight. Had they stopped fearing maritime patrols? Where were we? Had I miscalculated our position?

The answer came in the dead of night, when the ship nudged against a wooden pier with a soft scrape. There was neither moon nor stars in the sky—the captain had calculated the arrival time with mathematical precision to dock unseen in the pitch-black shadows. The hatch cover was pulled back, and under sharp, hushed orders, we were driven onto the wharf and formed into a tight column.

And here my first grim surprise awaited me: the escorting guard consisted not of ragged pirates, but of disciplined, silent warriors clad in Roman-style armor.

The puzzle pieces instantly fell into place. The mysterious hooded man was no petty slave trader from a desert backwater. He was a high-priced recruiter working for someone among the highest Roman nobility, scouting for unique, rare "merchandise" on the furthest fringes of the Republic.
