Last week Charlie and I competed at the Kyneton & District MAD Series dressage competition. No wins, no ribbons or even a place — but I’m realising more and more this journey is about building our partnership, while still trying (and often struggling 😅) to nail the shapes, lines, and arena geometry.

Charlie is still relatively green in competition — he hadn’t competed before coming to me — so every ride is a learning curve for both of us.

Huge thanks to my amazing partner for keeping me calm and focused and calling my tests, my brilliant coach Kristin for her saint-like patience, Alex for the beautiful plaits, Emma Putkunz for videoing the test, and Grain and Mane for the stunning photos.

Extra thanks to Libby Greshner from Beauparc Ponies for breeding such a cutie Patootie, my fellow club members for volunteering, and Vanessa Thompson for coordinating the whole event.

Not perfect, but moments like this remind me why I love this sport — and my Charlie. 💛 by @eva_herzigova

My client really impressed me yesterday with his initiative, problem solving skills and his ability to learn on the spot.
He designed this obstacle course by himself, then built it and piloted Pippa around it thoughtfully and confidently.
Initially he built it with a few extra obstacles but he could see that young Pippa found it a bit challenging so he modified it for her.

I love how this work brings the best out in people.

Team building, problem solving, empathy, communication, building trust. Achieving goals.
