Meet the Graduates - Eva Immerzeel

REMI

Met REMI onderzoekt Eva hoe mensen zich emotioneel tot elkaar verhouden, en hoe we ons als maatschappij steeds meer voor elkaar afsluiten. Hoewel we samenleven en allemaal dezelfde basisemoties ervaren, behandelen we gevoelens vaak als iets privés dat verborgen moet blijven. REMI toont een collectief van individuen die zich van elkaar hebben afgesloten, ieder in hun eigen afgebakende ruimte. Tegelijkertijd maakt het werk zichtbaar dat ze, ondanks die afstand, meer op elkaar lijken dan ze zelf beseffen.

With REMI, Eva explores how people relate to one another emotionally, and how we, as a society, are increasingly shutting ourselves off from one another. Although we live together and all experience the same basic emotions, we often treat feelings as something private that must remain hidden. REMI depicts a collective of individuals who have shut themselves off from one another, each in their own defined space. At the same time, the work reveals that, despite that distance, they are more alike than they realize.
