dear milo,

where do i even begin…
getting to know you was an absolute privilege. i’ve never met someone as bright and funny as you. you always fought for everyone to feel safe and included, and i couldn’t thank you enough for that. i’ve always admired your ability to fight for what you believe in. these past two years have been an absolute blast and i’m so incredibly lucky that i got to call you my friend. sharing the stage with you has been an absolute honor.

i have so many incredible memories with you, but my absolute favorite has to be taking our final bow during the winter show, and hearing the audience go insane for us. for the first time in a while, i felt so confident in what i was doing, and there’s no way i would have been able to do that without you.

last week my drama family closed hadestown (teen edition), and one year ago today we lost milo.

to say that i miss him is an understatement. it will never fail to perplex me that one moment he was here, and now he’s been gone long enough for the earth to make one full rotation around the sun. the last time i ever saw him, we were rehearsing for our drama final, which just so happened to be hadestown. milo and i were assigned to perform come home with me and wedding song, two songs that now hold a very special place in my heart. before our final performance however, milo had passed away.

when we found out that the rights for this show had been released, i remember we were buying our prom tickets. milo could not contain his excitement and was shooting off all of his ideas for how we could do the show. his enthusiasm was contagious and soon i too was dreaming about getting to be a part of this show. now, over a year later i can say that this is one of the best shows i have had the privilege of performing in. throughout the past few months i have been able to form so many incredible bonds with so many incredible people.

to my fellow fates, i love you all dearly and working with you was my pleasure. to my fellow vocal directors, thank you for collaborating with me and making sure that we were able to do one of the most vocally complex shows we’ve ever done. to the seniors, i’m so proud of each and every one of you and i am so lucky to have gotten to spend most of my high school career with you all.

and to milo, i know you can read this and i know you were here for every single one of our performances as our loudest cheerleader. thank you for believing in me when not many other people did. i think of you every day and i dedicate every single performance to you because carrying you with me is the least i could do after the way you inspired me. this show was our love song to you and it’s done and we sang it and spring came again. wherever you are wandering my friend, i raise a cup to you. 💚🤎☂️ by @evaflowww
