Nor'easter came through and the estuary was nearly full. Choppy slate water (which was also green, and purple in patches), and tugs kept working. taken in East River, New York City by @evajimenez.art

I worked all afternoon on a different painting but it didn't work out. Then I looked at my hand. And I did not find a good green. by @evajimenez.art

This is from my final drawing marathon at @ny_studioschool in 2020, when Graham Nickson let me pursue my own project: a figure anchoring a still life. This work led me to the paintings I made in my first year out of school. I'm grateful for him and for all the teachers who shaped me there.

Working in fresco on tile from the inspiration of an English folktale. “Mr. Fox cursed and swore, and drew his sword, raised it, and brought it down upon the hand of the poor lady.”
