Rutschdaddy 🏆💎 #’d/50 Continuing my theme of /50 Adley, and Gold parallels, here’s a 2025 Topps Gilded Collection Adley Rutschman Mini Diamonds Refractor. I love Gilded because of the way the colors work with the cards. Black and Gold goes with just about everything. Rutschman 👾🖼️ #’d/50. Big fan of this Pixel Portraits set from Bowman’s Best. They’re sort of baseball’s own in-color version of Metal Universe’s Platinum Portraits. Unlike Platinum Portraits, though, this base set isn’t uncommon in the slightest. Jim “Cakes” Palmer ✍️ I’d share some accolades about Jim, but he was kind enough to do it on the card himself; a 3x Cy Young Winner and a 1st ballot Hall-of-Famer. Jim is an Oriole legend whose impact on my young life has been via his insights in the booth, rather than his dominance on the mound. This personalized signature is undoubtedly a Mt. 🧊 from a deal with @callmepills I adore Panini Hockey. As someone whose personal hobby renaissance was defined by Optic and Prizm, I’ll always have a soft spot for these sets—Select included. And because Panini’s NHL license was so limited, these sets have an added mystique that doesn’t hold true for Young Guns, Future Watch Autos, or anything else in the Upper Deck sphere. To me, they’re the Topps Chrome equivalent, and while O-Pee-Chee Platinum tries to fill that void, it’s just not the same. This card is made better by being playing days Ovechkin, which will someday no longer be the case, and it features one of my favorite Capitals jerseys to date. Continuing our theme of Ovechkin Rookie Cards… …is this base rookie from U.D. Victory. Centering issues are incredibly common with this set—and this copy, along with the card’s 9% gem rate, prove it. Still, plenty of 9s and 10s exist for me to eventually upgrade in to. Boxes of Victory were cheap, and quality control wasn’t at the forefront. Rather, the goal was to get an affordable, attainable product out to young collectors that gave them a chance to chase Ovechkin and Crosby. This set name really hit the nail on the head… “Stars in the Making” inserts were 1:12 packs, featuring a 14-card checklist including Ovechkin and Crosby. So back in the day, it really wasn’t rare at all. It’s been graded over 700 times by PSA and about half over those are greater than or equal to a MINT 9 as seen here. And, with dark edges all around the card, I’m honestly surprised that’s the case. #capitals #hockeycards #thehobby #whodoyoucollect by @evan.cards

The future Captain. Despite being #’d/10, this 2021-22 Tom Wilson Green Precious Metal Gems reads as #’d/100. This an homage to the original PMG set of the 90s, where those #’d 1-10/100 were the green parallel, and those #’d 11-100 were the red parallel. Ultimately, UpperDeck went away from this system, stamping the green parallels #’d/10, as observed on my 2024-25 Pierre Luc-Dubois Green PMG (right side, 2nd slide). A move, that to me, is the right one. by @evan.cards
