Best Monday ever probably #michaelbrecker

Original Rays from The Michael Brecker album.

Much work to do with this one but good days progress. I’ve been wanting to do this one for years and it was inspired by @kurt_krakovsky #tenorsax #adamandrewarmy #lang #originalrays taken in Eastman School of Music by @evan_bert_music

Took a little break from the saxomophone this summer. Back at it again with a transcription I’ve been wanting to do for a while. I feel like Lenny Pickett, I had to pull my mouthpiece out so much to be in tune with the recording.

4 and a half years ago I was auditioning for undergraduate schools to get a music education degree. Eastman was one of those options until I thought I’d never get in, and the idea of moving to New York terrified me.

So here I am today, saying how thrilled, happy, and proud I am to have the honor of pursuing a masters degree and continuing my music career in Rochester NY, at the renowned @eastman.school of music with @charles_pillow . What once felt impossible is now very much, possible.

I’d like to give a special thanks to all of my professors and mentors for all of their endless support:

Emre Kartari @emrekartari
Adam Larrabee @adam_larrabeast
Oliver Scott @scott961

Pete Haensel @pdhaensel

Thank you to everyone who’s been a part of my journey🙏❤️

Moments Notice- John Coltrane

Started choking on my spit at the end there but I finished the transcription.

I ate it on my jury so here’s me trying to do it some better justice.

Practicing with my dog, she kinda makes it hard but I appreciate the company. Chromatic pattern using 4ths. It kinda went into another chromatic pattern that was new to the moment. Just trying to find new pathways around the horn. #reel #dog #adamandrewarmy #tenorsax #jazz by @evan_bert_music

Giving this Instagram reel thing a shot, it seems to be what all the cool cats are doing these days. Here’s a hip ii-V lick I came up with that I started sequencing through every key. I feel that it’s great for getting around the horn in all 12 keys as well as building up language and new avenues to go down. #adamandrewarmy #jmujazz #jmuschoolofmusic #jazz #tenorsax #shenandoahuniversity #rsberkeley #rsberkeleyvirtuososaxophone by @evan_bert_music

I Love where this **out of time improvisation** in G minor took me. It’s always fun finding familiar melodies in your own music. I’ve started recording solo playing because some of my most creative moments come from playing alone. I’m just searching for notes. #jazz #saxophone #improv #adamandrewarmy #furelise by @evan_bert_music
