POSTS STORIES REELS

Cleansing your feed with a little ✨underconsumption core✨ because being online can often feel like one big comparison race.

Being on the book side of social media, there can often be so much pressure to spend money and live a life worth envying. Buy more books and trinkets and items for a cozy aesthetic home, new outfits for an OOTD or a DOB, or new fancy equipment to level up your content and maybe the video will finally pop off and you’ll go viral. But that’s not really who I am. At all.

The truth is, I don’t really spend money. I mean, I do, but it’s rare. I wear the same outfits over and over, drive an older car, visit the library like it’s my full time job, and spend more time at home than I do out, even when making plans with friends. I’m not really motivated by “stuff”. I never have been.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found that I care more about experiences, surrounding myself with an incredible community, and reconnecting with the hobbies that brought my 12 year old self joy. Booktok & booksta content is my attempt at leaning in to that. I love how stories can connect us and I want to find a community of kindred spirits.

If you’re reading this and you’re like me, I hope this made you feel a little less alone and I hope you know that your life doesn’t have to be trendy to be valuable. It’s valuable because it’s YOURS. Do your own thing and the joy will follow. 🤍

What’s my fave book genre? All of them. 📚

These are a few of my bookish personalities and many of the books that define me! My taste in books changes from one day to the next and I’m constantly hopping genres. Do we have any in common?

If any of these books are your vibe, welcome! You’re in the right place! Don’t forget to save this, share with your bookish besties, and follow along. 💕

Here’s where I recommend you buy and acquire your books if you’re looking to divest from a certain online retailer! (US based recs only so sorry international friends I’m not as familiar with your options)

I’m proud to say almost every single book in my collection is from one of these sources and I highly encourage you to be intentional with where you spend your money too. Let me know if you have questions or if you would like more info about any of these options!

In addition to your local bookstores go follow and support these companies I mentioned!

@bookshop_org
@librofm
@thriftbooks
@worldofbooksofficial
@halfpricebooks
@pangobooks
@libby.app
@hoopladigital

Make sure you share this with your bookish friends and check out part 1 if you haven’t already!

A day well spent at the Southern Festival of Books 📚

Each fall, the @sofestofbooks brings authors and readers together in Nashville for a celebration of books, storytelling and the conversations they inspire.

Pulitzer Prize–winning author Jayne Anne Phillips joined Vanderbilt writer-in-residence Alice Randall to discuss “Small Town Girls,” followed by Ann Patchett (@parnassusbooks) in conversation with @vanderbiltu Provost C. Cybele Raver about her new novel, “Whistler.”

Watch as @evannreads brings us along for a day of books, conversation and community in the heart of Nashville. 📚 by @evannreads

The Bookshops of Nashville: Part 6 takes us just outside of Nashville to Crying Cat Books and Records in Murfreesboro, TN! 🐈‍⬛ 🌈 📖

@cryingcatbooks is one of my favorite spots for a little day trip outside of my normal bubble in Nashville. The fact that it’s in an old house just adds to the charm and the feel of wandering through a maze of books and music and local art. It’s absolutely worth a stop if you find yourself in or near Murfreesboro.

Remember to shop local and support your indie bookstores if you’re able! 🫶
