Hi

ex - crackhead here.

Honestly, 18-28 years old was a blur. I don't remember anything significant. There are so many memories that I forgot because I was not present with myself and the people around me. Always chasing the next shiny dopamine object.

I have lost a lot of friends over the years, because I was basically a selfish dick.

i realised at 31, that after years of the same shit, that
1. my life wasn't going anywhere
2. chasing fun constantly, comes with just as many pitfalls. No highs without the lows.

And honestly, I looked around me - and I couldn't help but see people who I "viewed" (wrong or not) as less talented, less intelligent, with less blessings, achieve more & better things than me in a shorter amount of time.

I had to make a change if I didn't want to feel the same way at 40, let alone 80.

Anyways - this is the story of a small chapter of my life. Addicted to nangs. Nitrous oxide... literally 70kg of cannisters in my apartment that I had to dispose of in a shopping trolley at one point.

The friend who really introduced it to me, i Saw him hit rock bottom, losing his memory sporadically, losing all self-awareness of who he was, and losing all discipline + semblence of himself and frankly going "off the rails". It was a jarring moment, and I hope he's ok today, even though he's not a part of my life.

Underneath it all, it wasn't an 'addiction' to anything specific. No, that's too easy an explanation. It was a need to avoid the discomfort. The uncomfortable moments. And I think that's universal in modern day society.

How many people do you know can't spend 10 minutes alone with their own thoughts? I sure couldn't. Boredom for men is excruciatingly painful as I've come to learn. After putting in some specific practices around my ADHD brain, I've really started to turn over a new leaf.

Here's to the next 10 years. Where I might even achieve something.

Let's see :)

....

And as always thank you @gabechiaa + @arviniosilva for your team's help & direction in getting this story together taken in Da Nang, Vietnam by @evansbaos

You know what’s crazy?
In the 75+ days that I’ve quit porn,

I’ve hit my first 100k views
I’ve turned my last $2k in the bank into $3k in one day
I’ve hit a 100kg in my front squat

I think there’s a real correlation with no porn &
- the ability to stop giving a fuck what other people think of you
- the ability to do hard things
- the ability to have a plan and stick to it

Basically following a strategy

and tbh... I don’t think I would have done it unless I really wanted to have a better life

If you want to know how I had a dream and died in my dream, and how that led to me quitting... I can share that another day.
5 star review for quitting porn!

This is the start of my series called Unlearning the 9-5.

I'm going to share everything I've had to unbrainwash myself & set myself up for financial independence from the system.

I'll share,
- every stressor that led to growth
- every limiting belief that I had to excavate & change
- and some of the tips & tricks to really build the type of impact I want to see in the world, rather than building someone else's.

it's not for everyone, this life, but for the ones it does resonate with, it might just help fast-track their journey, whether it's a side-hustle, a complete $100k --> $0k like I had, or they're building a bigger company than me.

I haven't figured it out yet; it's stressful AF some weeks.

But honestly, working for yourself has been one of the most fun games I've played since Runescape.

PUT YOUR VAPES DOWN AND LOCK THE FK IN

I realised something recently.
Self doubt.
Not believing you can do something
Doubt & disbelief in yourself in general

That's EGO.

EGO = attachment to an identity.
It isn't just having a proud/boastful nature, like I did.

it also includes insecurity.

If you have a voice inside that says - "oh but I'm not sure I can"

you need to wake the fk up. And shake yourself out of your own mind & thoughts, that play the same pattern over and over again.

8.3 billion people on this earth & you think YOU out of all people don't have what it takes to do it? To start that side hustle?? Or to post that piece of content??
Instead of acting you have more time to think about it 100 more times??

Frankly, you and I are just an insignificant blip in the grand scheme of things. And you have a giant EGO if you think you aren't capable.

Get out there, start that side hustle. Start that business. Believe in your own self because if you don't, who will?

And I always like to remind myself that success isn't based on results. (no that'd be too risk-free)

-----

"Success is peace of mind,
which is a direct result of self-satisfaction
in knowing you did your best
to become the best
that you are capable of becoming"
- John Wooden

my ego used to fuel a lot of stuff

women
money
what's the last one?? (not power lol)

but then I heard this.

"ego is an inflamed nervous system, as the result of the inner child,
lashing out"

Then i went and healed it.

8 year old evan, calm down. no need to grip the wheel so tight.

over the next few months, desire to earn more than everyone else, to catch the most pokemon, slowly dissipated.

I became content with myself, in my own skin, and my own thoughts. (boredom included).

That's a whole other post.

This post is about bizinezz.
Ego does not help your business. It drives a lot of businesses true, but that's dirty fuel, and often for selfish reasons.

Not the kind of boss or the type of company I want to build in this world.

Here are 5 great lessons I've learnt about ego + business. by @evansbaos

I’m so blessed to be working for ourselves selling weighted teddy bears to help people with their anxiety their grief and their hyperactive

We’re not a big brand yet, but definitely showing signs of life

Also lucky that some of the coaches selected us to win what was called the Golden ticket for our program to go visit 600 other founders in Melbourne for local founders. I missed the Syd event.

I think the average revenue per per head was 80 K per month going all the way up to $5mil a month

I was literally the smallest fish and the dumbest in the room so lots to soak up

We ended the night with a mixer and I haven’t had a drink in like a month because we’ve really been trying to lock in

And hell yeah, was I in my element

BAU can’t stop , and sleep is good for learning

That’s day one done and dusted and so grateful to be here to expand my knowledge and uncap our bottlenecks.

And to meet other like-minded founders and entrepreneurs

Let’s fucking go day two. I’ll see if I get to the video for day 2 or if editing ruined my nervous system.
