“Company 3 is always honored to work with Guillermo,” says CEO and Senior Colorist Stefan Sonnenfeld. “Collaborating on images like these is every colorist’s dream.”

For Frankenstein, Company 3 shaped the film’s color and sound. Senior Re-recording Mixer Christian Cooke led the Oscar-nominated mix at Company 3 Toronto, while Stefan’s color work helps define the film’s unforgettable look. The project has also earned multiple Critics Choice and BAFTA awards.

“We had three days of remote editing with Alfonso Cuarón, when Guillermo and I were in Toronto and Alfonso was in Paris. We sent him a Louper link, and together we cut out five minutes. I can’t even tell you all the things that we took out because once they’re gone, you realize that you didn’t need them. I don’t miss a single thing.”

While cutting ‘Frankenstein’, editor Evan Schiff found he had to work fast and edit live with director Guillermo del Toro - whether in person or remote.

“Guillermo comes in like, ‘This specific thing is bugging me, let’s attack it and fix it together.’ So that is very much a synchronous, real-time task.”
