In my punk era while burning 2k cals

9/11/2001 — Never Forget 🇺🇸

Today, instead of making just the ascent, I decided to take the descent as well.

Almost 3,000 people never made it home that day. Among them were 343 firefighters who ran toward the danger while others were running away. They climbed those stairs knowing the risks, but they never got the chance to walk back down.

I wasn’t alive when September 11, 2001 happened, but that doesn’t mean its impact isn’t still felt by my generation. Their sacrifice has continued to inspire people long after that tragic day.

For me, becoming a volunteer firefighter was one way I could honor that sacrifice. To step forward, serve my community, and be willing to run toward something when others need help. One day this volunteering dedication will hopefully become a gig.

Today, every step down represents one of those firefighters who never made it back out.

343 names. 343 heroes.
Never forgotten. Never wasted. 🇺🇸🚒

Same time next year…

“If you’re going to be here, be here, man. Be present.” — Magic Mike

Two months later and I still can’t stop thinking about this day. I’m so grateful I had the honor of standing beside my best friend and brother as his best man. Some moments in life you never forget, and watching him marry the love of his life is one of them. I’m incredibly thankful to have been part of such a special day and a memory I’ll always cherish. ❤️🍻 by @evanv0lk
