The last of my flowers from my cutting garden ๐ŸŒžin the kitchen window. I've had flowers on the kitchen table right through the summer from here but now have some kindly gifted by my nephew and niece who visited at the weekend. I've cleared out half of the tomato plants from the greenhouse this morning but the others are still producing fruit! ๐Ÿ… Laundry is blowing well on the washing line on what is a cooler, windier day but the sun's shining which is beautiful after a grey day yesterday. These anemones blowing in the breeze and the wild skies definitely have a feeling of autumn in the air! The temperature has dropped too! I've picked up some more 'rescue' plants from the garden centre. Beautiful cyclamen to sit on the patio tables now the sunshades have gone back into the garage for winter! Plus, the kitchen smells wonderful as I'm preparing chicken casserole in red wine for lunch tomorrow. My late brother's children are coming for lunch, one with a little one of their own. I've bought him a wooden train set which I hope he likes and found out the Fisher Price toys which belonged to our children (now in their 40s!!!) Well that was a busy morning! I got around to dealing with the last glut of tomatoes! ๐Ÿ… I made a large pan of soup and some sauce for the freezer! Luckily, there are still plenty of fresh ones to go with cheese etc! I also cooked up some apples to portion up in the freezer. They were kindly donated by a cousin last weekend! Our crop was a disaster this year! I've also been to the supermarket (my least favourite job!) as we have more family (my late brother's grown up children) coming this weekend and (except for fresh fruit for a salad) I wanted to get bits in to make a chicken casserole, a pavlova and cake! Just need to take my car to the garage ready for its MOT tomorrow and I can maybe have a little sit with my book! Oh and it's Traitors on TV this evening to look forward to!!!๐ŸŒน by @evas.rosepatch

Another busy few days! We went for a family 'get together' in Berkshire. A scrummy lunch and a beautiful, sunny afternoon sitting in their garden! I'd made a large, raspberry trifle and strawberry pavlova to take. I'm pleased to say they went down really well! We then had a couple of days in Oxford doing some tourist things, including quite some time in the Ashmolean Museum. Brilliant as always! Home now and ready for a relaxing bath! ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒน by @evas.rosepatch

I've been interlining my front door curtains ready for colder weather to come! The door is original to the house, large and wooden and not particularly energy efficient but I love it and have no intention of changing it!!! So, this is probably the best option to help with heat loss as weather cools! I've also had an organising day, sorting doctors appointments, topping up on some shopping, writing birthday cards, buying fuel and sorting MOT, phoning friends and laundry! A lovely feeling to have some dates in my diary and feel a little more 'up together'. ๐ŸŒžโค๏ธ by @evas.rosepatch

From my sewing room window I can see the leaves beginning to change their colours!! I'm back inside now making up some pretty table cloths for the kitchen whilst the sky gets darker with clouds. We're forecast some rain so I've been planting spring bulbs in pots hoping they'll be watered in later!The wind was blowing around my ears and it felt quite autumnal!! We've been away for a long weekend visiting a relative undergoing chemo so I'm having a kind of 'catch up' day at home while trying to do some fun jobs too!! โค๏ธ๐ŸŒน by @evas.rosepatch

A little wander around Shaftesbury yesterday in the autumn sunshine! This beautiful beech was covered in nuts and the landscape was beginning to show signs of the new season. A visit to the book shops resulted in more reading material and the garden centre some bulbs, 'rescue' plants and a stunning cyclamen (for a present). Looks like we may get some rain today! On a beautiful September day we visited RHS Houghton Lodge Gardens in Hampshire. It was incredibly peaceful sitting by the RiverTest listening to the birds, watching buzzards circling overhead and trout jumping in the water. We finished off with a scrummy late lunch in their cafeฬ before driving home across the plains in the late afternoon sun! ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒน by @evas.rosepatch

Mr B arranged a surprise (for me) weekend with our children and grandchildren as part of our celebrations of a special wedding anniversary! As always it was wonderful to all be together! Lots of love, laughter, bubbly and food!! All is very quiet now as they've headed back to their various parts of the country! Not many apples from our trees this year due to hot, dry weather but there was enough to make an apple, walnut and cinnamon cake! Now cooling for later! And what about this cast iron casserole dish from Lidl! A fraction of the price of Le Crueset but look how close the colour is to 'the real thing' (cruet set!) I wanted a smaller one for making dishes for just the two of us. Our others are family sizes!! This is 2.8L which I hope will be good. ๐ŸŒน by @evas.rosepatch
