Foods That Help You Feel Calm, Focused & Less Stressed

What if feeling calmer started in your kitchen? Discover the foods, habits, and simple recipes that help support your nervous system, reduce inflammation, and bring more balance to busy days.

Here’s your Nervous System Menu:

🐟 Omega-3s — salmon, sardines & mackerel
Support brain health and healthy inflammatory pathways.

🌱 Magnesium-rich foods — pumpkin seeds, leafy greens, almonds & dark chocolate
Magnesium supports normal muscle and nervous system function and energy production.

🫐 Antioxidant-rich foods — berries, tomatoes & leafy greens
Their plant compounds help protect cells from oxidative stress.

🥑 Healthy fats + steady-energy foods — avocado, walnuts, olive oil, sweet potatoes & legumes
Pairing protein, fiber and healthy fats can help create more satisfying, steady meals.

🌿 Fiber-rich foods — chia, legumes, greens & berries
Fiber supports the gut microbiome, which is closely connected with the brain through the gut-brain axis.

🌙 Evening foods & drinks — tart cherries & chamomile tea
Small additions that may support a calming evening routine and healthy sleep.

The goal isn't to eat perfectly or follow another restrictive “cortisol diet.”

It's simply to build meals that nourish you consistently.

My go-to drink when I’m having one of those stressful days 🤍

I make it with beetroot, cucumber + chia seeds.

🥒 Cucumber for hydration
❤️ Beetroot for naturally occurring nitrates and antioxidants
🌱 Chia for fiber, omega-3 fats and extra staying power

I don’t see this as a magic fix for hormonal acne. I see it as one small part of taking care of myself when stress is high.

Because sometimes the best skin routine isn’t another product. It’s also sleep, hydration, nourishing food, movement and giving your nervous system a little room to breathe.

Save this for your next stressful-skin day. ✨ taken in Frankfurt, Germany by @eve.bysara

Lately, I’ve been finding joy in making life a little simpler.

🎾 I picked up my tennis racket again after far too long. It’s funny how old hobbies can make you feel like yourself again.

🫧 I stopped chasing the “perfect” skincare routine and kept only what I actually use. Fewer products. Less decision fatigue. Better consistency.

🌕 Summer evenings on the terrace during the full moon have become my favorite kind of reset.

🥗 Fresh, hydrating French-inspired salads have replaced complicated meals. Simple food somehow tastes better in summer.

🚶‍♀️ And I’ve started walking without a podcast or music. Just me, my thoughts, and whatever I notice along the way.

I’m realizing that wellness isn’t about adding more to your routine. Sometimes it’s about removing the noise and making space for the little things that quietly make you feel alive again.

What has been your little joy lately? 🤍 taken in Frankfurt, Germany by @eve.bysara

A slow morning isn't a luxury. It's how I prepare my nervous system before I ask it to perform.

Before emails, meetings, deadlines, and notifications, I give my body a chance to wake up without immediately asking something from it.

I begin the day gently, everything that follows feels different. I have more patience, more focus, and far less of that constant feeling of rushing through my own life.

My summer morning rhythm looks something like this:

☀️ Wake naturally and hydrate
💧 Lemon water before coffee
✨ Skincare as a ritual, not a chore
🌿 A walk surrounded by trees and fresh air
🤍 Movement that energizes instead of exhausts
🌷 Fresh flowers because beauty changes how a space feels
🥭 A breakfast rich in protein, healthy fats, and seasonal fruit
💻 Only then do I open my laptop.

None of these habits are revolutionary on their own.

But together, they tell my nervous system one simple thing:

You're safe. There's no need to rush. taken in Frankfurt, Germany by @eve.bysara
