Hello friends. Three things plus one bonus thing:

1. Here are some random pics. No specific reason. Just because. And they’re all from my grandmas home village. Most quiet place I know. With a total of ten households in the area. Love that place.

Record breaking wildfires are affecting several parts of the world right now. But we’ve seen the patterns, year after year. Warmer and drier climate that have been fueling more intense and long lasting fires, where Europe is one of the most affected regions. The @who released a report the other week, mentioning that wildfires in Europe specifically, has increased by 57 % over the past four years.

Scientist warns about the fourth heat wave of the summer to hit Europe, meanwhile weather patterns such as (Super) El Niño is threatening to worsen the heat and drought conditions further on…

📸 Last year, I spent some time in northern Portugal to document the effects of previous summers wildfires. Over 275 000 hectares was then destroyed by the fires and Portugal is one of many countries increasingly affected by extreme wildfire seasons.

An initiative I got to follow last year though, was the project ”Flames of Renewal” hosted by Ananda Kalyani in Portugal. It was an initiative where people came together to help the land recover after the wildfires, while also supporting long-term prevention efforts by gathering people for a common cause.

Structural change is crucial, but meanwhile waiting *beeeeep* for that to happen… At least very very beautiful and hopeful to see ordinary heartfelt folks (💚) come together and do their best to help protecting and giving back to this beautiful but challenged planet. taken in Portugal by @evelinaronnback

📷 Throughout my years as a freelancer I have often chosen to focus on highlighting a more constructive and solution based perspective on global issues and international development. NOT because we shouldn’t report or document the harsh and most heavy realities of our time. But because I believe we humans also need (not at least in these times) to be reminded of all the actions taken out there that also shows a different way forward.

Again, it doesn’t mean that stories of constructiveness shouldn’t also adress the suffering, the root causes, the power imbalances and the structural injustices that got us here. It is very much linked(!!).

With that said, last year I did a photo exhibition about this specific topic. Seventy photos highlighting more than hundreds of people and their actions for change. I thought maybe it could be an idea to also go back in time and share more from that work. So from now on I’d like to commit to share at least once a week pictures and stories from this exhibition but also from other past projects, job missions and other things related to this part of my work.

As much as it is a reminder for me I hope this photo series can create more value in this particular time for u guys as well ❤️

Rädda nattågen! 💚 Från och med imorgon 13e april, halveras nattågstrafiken mellan Norrbotten och Stockholm. Det är tragiskt att se nerskärning på nerskärning när det gäller tåget för denna sträcka.

Som liten växte jag upp i en familj som inte hade egen bil. Så tåget har redan sedan barnsben haft en stor plats i mitt liv, inte minst just sträckan uppåt norrut.

Som vanlig (och frekvent) tågresenär märks nedskärningarna mycket. Ändå fortsätter jag välja tåget. Varför? För att jag tror på tågen.

För många av oss som bor uppe i norra Norrland är tågen avgörande för att just kunna bo kvar här. Men det blir utmanande när avgångarna blir färre och tågen ständigt nedprioriteras. Det blir också svårare att välja hållbart när man önskar det borde vara tvärt om.

Jag önskar tågtrafiken kunde tittas på som en större del av det kollektiva kretsloppet. Som en viktigare del av en samhällsstruktur. Som kan föra oss samman, som en viktigare byggsten för framtiden.

Enligt FN:s globala hållbarhetsmål (agenda 2030), SKA det finnas ”säkra, ekonomiskt överkomliga, tillgängliga och hållbara transportsystem för alla”. Sverige är ett av länderna som lovat att leva upp till det.

Ändå väljer vi att skära ner….

I wrote and article about Henrik Green and his journey into full-time activism. The piece also highlights one of his projects, which focuses on exploring discussions about the future, climate and democracy through communication across ideological divides.

This is me, doing a bunch of things I love ❤️

Been struggling a couple of years with a challenging knee. Recently got to know the injury wasn’t quite what I (or the doctors) had expected it to be. This lifestyle has its ups and downs and I’ve been through quite a few of them during the years.

But I’ve learned to not settle for less, to believe in the body’s ability to heal and that will can take you far 💭✨

Came out from surgery a few days ago. Motivated to start the rehab and aim to get closer to be able do all those things I love so much again.

❄️ Winter camping with friends last year ❄️

Förra vintern hade jag den stora lyxen att få bo med mina fina vänner Petra och Olivia (å Leia) 🥹🤍 Under en av vintersäsongens många dygn flyttade vi ut på fjället för en kväll. Första gången för mig som jag provade på att vintertälta ⛺️ KUL!!!

Det skrev jag en liten artikel om för 365 Magasin och @norrmag för @naturkompaniet @norr_agency ✍️ Den finns publicerad i årets julnummer 🎄 taken in Jämtlandsfjällen by @evelinaronnback

ÅRET SOM GÅTT — LUCKA 21/31

30 januari 2025, Tokyo/Japan

År 2025 markerade 80 år sedan atombomberna i Hiroshima och Nagasaki. Jag mötte Masako Wada, hibakusha, kärnvapenöverlevare från Nagasaki som idag även är assisterande generalsekreterare för Nihon Hidankyo, som fick Nobels Fredspris 2024.

Bilden är fotad på organisationens huvudkontor i Tokyo ett par månader efter att de tilldelats fredspriset. Varje uns av utrymme var fyllt av böcker, dokument och lådor med arkivmaterial, och i ett hörn bland välfyllda hyllor hängde det inramade Nobeldiplomet.

”Man kanske inte kan tro att det här kontoret tillhör någon som tilldelats Nobelpriset, men vi väljer att prioritera resurserna” skojade hon om i samma ögonblick som jag tog bilden.
