Brooklyn, pick up the phone 📞🎈 On October 6, Samora Pinderhughes and The Healing Project Choir @healingprojectsound will collectively sing and perform at The Plaza at 300 Ashland Place in Brooklyn, holding space for community. The performance accompanies the phone booth on view at the Plaza, dedicated to all 15 celebrants of @1800happybirthday. After the performance, continue the evening at The Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) @mocada_museum with a community gathering.  5-6 pm: Performance by the Phone Booth, 300 Ashland Pl, Brooklyn 6-8 pm: Reception upstairs at The Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) 10 Lafayette Avenue, 2nd floor, Brooklyn Come by the Plaza and pick up the phone. The public art installation is free, open to the public, and viewable 24 hours a day through December 1.  Presented in partnership with Downtown Brooklyn Partnership and Two Trees Management Co. "This project is both film and autobiography. An attempt to deepen my anchor to a place I remember abstractly, through one of its most elemental expressions: Wrestling. So much of how the world looks at Iran arrives with something already attached. This film tries to release and carry none of that. It aims to look the way you look at something you love: with patience, wonder, and full attention." — Mohammad Gorjestani Mohammad Gorjestani is an Iranian-born filmmaker and artist based in San Francisco, and founder of @evenodd.studio. In the summer of 2024, he returned to Iran for the first time in 36 years to make his first feature film. Tentatively titled “From the Mat” (خاک تشک) the project is a multi-modal exploration of wrestling in Iran — a pursuit that transcends sport to become a capsule for lineage, memory, and spiritual force.  For the filmmaking team, this project has moved between cultures, languages, and geographies. @dropbox helped take much of that logistical weight off by being invisible in the way good technology always is. As the team approaches the finish line in the edit, the hope is that the film opens audiences to a place, a people, and seeing the Iranian consciousness in a new way.  تقریباً دو سال از فیلمبرداری «خاک تشک» می‌گذره و فیلم داره به مراحل آخرش نزدیک می‌شه تا برای اولین اکرانش در اوایل ۲۰۲۷ آماده بشه. این ویدیوی پشت صحنه با همکاری Dropbox ساخته شده، که با افتخار حامی و اسپانسر این پروژه بوده. توی این ویدیو می‌ریم توی ذهن کارگردانمون، محمد گرجستانی، که از تجربه ساخت فیلم و اون دوران فراموش‌نشدنی توی وطنمون، بین مردم عزیزمون، در جریان یه المپیک تاریخی می‌گه.
