🤒 This Flu season—protect your little ones!

💙 The AAP recommends an annual flu vaccine for everyone 6 months and older.

💉 Why vaccinate? The flu can cause serious complications in children, especially those under 5 or with conditions like asthma or diabetes. Vaccination can reduce the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and complications—and if a vaccinated child does get the flu, illness is often milder. by @evergreenpediatric

🫁 RSV season is around the corner

🤧 RSV is a common respiratory virus that can cause stuffy nose, decreased appetite, cough, fever, wheezing. While many children have mild symptoms, RSV can sometimes become severe, making it difficult for babies to breathe and get enough oxygen.

💚 The good news: RSV immunization is highly effective—about 90% effective at preventing hospitalization in infants.

✨ Meet Dr. Kate Holland, one of our thoughtful and adventurous pediatricians at Evergreen Pediatric Clinic! ✨

Dr. Holland loves connecting with families and bringing a calm, supportive presence to her care. When she’s not in the clinic, you’ll likely find her out on the water stand-up paddle boarding, experimenting in the kitchen, or working on a jigsaw puzzle. 🧩🌊

Some of her personal favorites include:
🍽️ Restaurants: Urdaneta in Portland and Little Conejo in Vancouver
🫐 Favorite foods: All the berries—especially blackberries
🥾 Favorite hikes: Any waterfall trail in the Columbia River Gorge
📚 Favorite book: The Name of the Wind—though she’s (like many of us!) still waiting for book three
🦸 Dream superpower: Teleportation—to skip airports and get to amazing places faster

Fun facts about Dr. Holland:
She grew up in North Dakota but moved away in search of milder temps and ocean access. She’s a true water-lover and enjoys just about every water sport you can think of! 🌊

We’re lucky to have Dr. Holland’s curious, calm energy on our Evergreen team. 💚

Happy (almost) 4th of July, families! 🌲✨ As we get ready to celebrate, our team at Evergreen Pediatrics wants to make sure your holiday is filled with fun memories, not unexpected clinic visits.

While backyard fireworks and sparklers feel like a classic summer tradition, they can be incredibly tough on little hands, eyes, and ears. Between high-heat sparklers and our local PNW summer air quality and wildfire risks, leaving the big displays to the professionals is always the safest bet.

🧴 Apply mineral and broad spectrum sunscreen that is at least SPF 15
🚪 Apply it 15 minutes before going outside
💦 Reapply every 2 hours & after swimming
😎 Wear sunglasses with 99% UV protection
👒 Put on a hat with a 3 inch brim
👶🏽 Shade is preferred for babies 6 months and under, but small amounts of sunscreen is ok
