This week at the Colorado Horse Park was actually incredible. Thanks to @co_jumpingtour , Sambucco Van’t Eigenlo (Sammie) and I had amazing experiences inside and out of the show ring. I want to thank my incredible parents for giving me this life changing opportunity and for my trainers at @wellsbridgefarminc for guiding me along the way. This week, we stacked up some serious wins and I couldn’t be happier with Sammie’s performance and willingness to take risks. I’m also really happy with my performance this week- riding horses has always put some sort of invisible pressure on me that usually doesn’t do me any good in the show ring. This being my last show year as a Junior rider has made me realize that the reason why I ride is because I like it- not because I need to be perfect and not because everyone is counting on me. Going in with the mindset to simply have fun is harder than it seems for me, but has benefited me on another level. My trainer Paul has always said that when you’re in the ring, nothing else matters. Not school, not boyfriends, not drama, not parents. Only you, your head, and your horse. As soon as you step in there and the announcer calls out your name, your only job is to have eight decent jumps in a row. Being in the ring is the most peaceful stressful experience you’ll ever have. Just like any other teenage female rider, all I want to do is make my trainer and my parents happy. I used to believe that the only way for me to do that was through my performance by scores. But I realized that simply going out there, supporting my team, loving on my horse, and having a great time was the biggest way. Having an attitude of gratitude has changed my entire mindset in riding and showing. This doesn’t mean that I’m always going to have perfect rides and perfect days- horses are literally horses anyways. But it does mean that I’m ready to tackle any challenge and triumph that comes my way because I’m absolutely sure of at least one thing- I love to ride. taken in The Colorado Horse Park by @everley_neel
