🤎 THE ASHBURN | An Antique Pine Homestead Chest
Not perfect. Just absolutely incredible.

Some pieces simply stop you in your tracks. The Ashburn was one of those for me.

Believed to date to the late 1800s or early 1900s, this magnificent oversized pine chest carries the unmistakable charm of early Canadian homestead furniture, with influences reminiscent of both Ontario and Quebec craftsmanship and traditional English country furniture.

Its beautifully scalloped apron, decorative gallery, original wooden knobs and wonderfully aged honey-pine patina are only part of its story.

Look a little closer and you’ll find traditional square-cut nails, a wonderful reminder of 19th-century furniture-making techniques. Every detail speaks to an era when furniture was built to serve generations.

And this one certainly has. 🤎

Four exceptionally generous drawers, all sliding beautifully, and a remarkably sturdy construction. The photographs hardly capture its impressive size and presence.

Thoughtfully restored and toned while preserving the beautiful imperfections that make it an authentic antique.

And speaking of imperfections…

This lovely chest over many years shared a home with nine corgis! 🐾 Yes, nine! And judging by some wear around the lower corners, it’s quite possible they wanted to add some character. 😃

Some stories are simply too wonderful to erase.

The Ashburn isn’t flawless. It has its scratches, some flaws but its integrity is solid and more than a century’s worth of character.

But that’s precisely why I fell in love with it.

A beautiful reminder that the things we treasure most aren’t always perfect.

Now ready for its next chapter, and hopefully another hundred years of stories.

A little sneak peek… 🤎 7pmEST 🕖 Tuesday,October 13th

Every once in a while, I come across a piece that stops me completely.

This oversized English pine chest of drawers is one of those pieces.

Beautifully wide, without being overly deep, with the most incredible timeworn pine, generous drawers and character that simply cannot be recreated. It feels collected, storied and wonderfully old-world.

I’m completely spellbound by this one.

She’ll be getting the Evermore treatment—not to make her new, but to let everything beautiful about her age and history shine again.

🍂 Monday Motivation | Let It Be a Little Messy
There’s something about fall that makes me feel a little more at ease.
Maybe it’s the leaves scattered across the lawn, the fall mums on the porch, the birdseed sprinkled about, or the last of the wildflowers growing wherever they please. A few old pieces of furniture waiting for their next chapter, and a yard that looks a little less manicured than it did a few months ago.
And you know what? I love it!!!

There’s a certain beauty in the untidiness of this season.
As the days grow shorter and the air turns cooler, nature seems to be giving us permission to slow down. To stop “fussing “over every little thing. To let go of what doesn’t really matter.

I can’t help but think about the contrast between the world around us and the world outside our windows.
One seems to get louder, busier, and a little more chaotic every day. The other is quietly preparing to rest.
Maybe there’s a lesson in that.

Not everything needs to be perfectly in place for life to be beautiful. Like perfectly curated feeds for goodness sakes over and over again.

So, can we just let the leaves fall.!
Let the garden get a little wild !
Leave a few things unfinished!

Take your time. Enjoy the quiet. Find your grounding in the simple things.
The world will keep spinning, whether your lawn is raked or not.
Let it be a little messy. Let yourself be a little still. 🍁

🍂🤎 A Little Thanksgiving Reminder 🤎🍂

This Thanksgiving weekend, I hope we can all slow down a little.

Put the politics aside. We can talk about those things any other day of the week. This weekend, let’s remember what really matters.

The people gathered around our tables. The familiar voices, the laughter, the stories we’ve heard a hundred times but never tire of hearing.

The cool autumn breeze coming through an open window, the smell of something wonderful cooking in the kitchen, and the simple comfort of being surrounded by good food and even better company.

Life moves quickly enough. Sometimes the greatest gift we can give ourselves is permission to slow down, be present, and appreciate the people and little moments that make life so beautiful.

Whether your table is full or you’re enjoying a quiet weekend with someone special, I hope you find a little peace, warmth, and something to be grateful for.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about what divides us. It’s about what brings us together. 🤎

Put down the to-do list. The laundry can wait. The housework can wait. Fall won’t. 🍂

The thanksgiving prep was all over the place and we weren’t going anywhere, and quite frankly, neither was I unless I put everything down and got out to enjoy this beautiful fall day!

So my daughter and I headed just down the road to Puddicombe Farms in Winona, and what a lovely little afternoon it turned out to be. ❤️

The smell of applewood woodsmoke ,crisp autumn air, live music playing, pumpkins everywhere, the aroma of freshly baked pies, and that wonderful feeling of being somewhere that hasn’t forgotten the charm of simpler times.

We enjoyed a wagon ride through the property, wine in hand, took in the beautiful scenery, and soaked up a little history along the way.

🍎 Established in 1797 and now in its eighth generation of family ownership, Puddicombe Estate Farms is a little piece of local history right here in our own backyard.

From the charming train and wagon rides to the winery, delicious food, bakery, and family-friendly activities, there’s truly something for everyone.

Whether you’re stopping in for lunch, picking up something homemade, or spending an afternoon wandering the grounds, it’s worth a visit.

And here’s your little reminder from me today.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is absolutely nothing on your list. ❤️

Morning thought this Monday 💭

If you look at the expression on this ladies face you’ll understand the vibe from yesterday.
Two old friends who sat on my settee after I offered to have them enjoy their coffee properly.
The girl at the table looking and chatting with her mom asking “will this fit in my new home” !?

I savoured it and then this …

A little continuation from yesterday… 🤍

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about authenticity and what it really means to just be yourself.

You can meet someone for five minutes and put on a pretty good show. But eventually, people figure out who you are — and whether they want to be part of your life.

So why not just be yourself from the beginning?

I think that’s where the best connections come from. The real ones. The ones where you don’t have to perform, impress or be anything other than exactly who you are.

I hope you had the chance to meet someone new this weekend — whether it was at the Heirloom Club Fall Market, another show, or simply somewhere along your travels.

Because being your true self will always pay off. You feel more connected to the people around you, but maybe even more importantly, you feel more connected to yourself.

And I think your mind, body and heart know the difference. 🤍

At first, I said no.

I saw the post looking for vendors and immediately thought, I just don’t have the capacity.

And then it sat there… quietly in the back of my mind.

Until one piece of furniture sparked an idea.
Then came a theme.
Then came that familiar little feeling of, Ohhh… I could make this really special.

So I messaged Kate.

“I’m in. That’s it. I’m in.” ❤️

And just like that, we’re doing round two.

Join me—and a few friends—November 28th for An Heirloom Christmas at Jackson’s Point. Another day of beautiful old things, talented makers, music, food, Christmas magic and genuine connection.

There’s something pretty special about this little corner of the world we call Jackson’s Point.

And this time… Evermore is coming for Christmas. 🎄✨

I already know exactly what I want my little corner to feel like.
