How it sounded when I wrote it, and how it sounds now!

Song: Born to be King by Eversmith

Continuing to work on my voice postpartum featuring warm ups, working on a song, and Norah being over it 🤣

I told a friend the other day that right now it feels like a huge accomplishment to practice at all. And when it do, it’s discouraging. My voice feels foreign. Where I used to be able to sit down and put the work in for hours at a time and quickly get back in vocal shape, right now I’m piecing together moments between the already minimal amount of things I’m able to achieve each day and the goal of getting my voice back feels unattainable.

My friend reminded me that I’m raising a tiny human, and that on top of a hard pregnancy, I also had walking pneumonia which massively impacted my respiratory system. Grace.

I do know that as I keep showing up and putting in the work, I will eventually see results. And God is so good. I saw a post yesterday that said “God loves your voice”. So simple, but I don’t really think about that a whole lot. I’ve spent my life working on my craft and sometimes in the goal of excellence I forget that He created my gift for Him, and He says “it is good” about everything He has created.

So there are some ramblings. I hope you’re enjoying this humbling journey I’m on 🤣

Let me know in the comments what you’d like me to attempt as I keep working on things by @eversmithev

Working on keys today for our song “Get Down and Dance this Christmas” - this one bit is quick so gotta make sure it’s clean. Here’s how I break down a part and practice it.

You can hear a few discrepancies in my playing here, so I will check back in again in a couple of weeks so you can hear my progress.
