I was a kindergarten teacher before staying home with my boys. One of the biggest reasons I chose to stay home was because I didn’t want to spend my days raising other people’s kids while missing out on raising my own.

I know staying home isn’t the right choice for everyone, and I also know what a privilege it is that I get to make this choice. But for me, I knew these were years I didn’t want to miss.

Even on the long days, the repetitive days, and the days where we don’t do anything exciting at all, I try to remember that this is the stuff I’ll wish I could come back to someday.

I can always go back to teaching, but I can’t go back to this season with them.

In March, I randomly said to my husband, “What if we moved to Florida?”
By June our house was on the market.
By August, the four of us + our two dogs lived in Florida.

Obviously there was a lot that went into a decision that involved selling our house, packing up our entire life, and moving our family to Florida. But it really did start with one random conversation and a willingness to see where it could go.

Sometimes you just have to see what happens when you don’t immediately talk yourself out of the crazy idea. by @everydaybychloe

For context, I was trying to light a candle to celebrate hitting 1,000 followers. I tried so many times to get the perfect video that I literally burned the 1 down until it wasn’t even a 1 anymore. And then I didn’t even use the footage. 💀

Where are all the girls trying NOT to be so hard on themselves?? Please come say hi because clearly I’ve been working on this since elementary school.

3 things I stopped stressing about after becoming a mom:

1. Strict schedules. We have routines, but we don’t live by the clock.

2. What my kids eat. I offer a variety of foods, but I’ve stopped stressing over how much they eat or whether they try everything on their plates.

3. Expecting my kids to always be on their best behavior. My boys are still little and learning how to handle big feelings. I try to give them grace while teaching them what’s okay and what’s not.
