How to tell if you are the bottleneck. 🧭

• Work pauses while you are in a meeting, then resumes when you come out
• Questions arrive in batches, because people save them up for you
• Nothing ships on a Friday you are away
• Somebody in your business has said "I'll wait to ask" this week

None of that is a sign your team is weak. It is a sign every route runs through one person, and that person books meetings.

Good hire as well. Organized, quick, pleasant. He was thrilled for about two weeks.

Then came the check-ins. Then the questions between the check-ins. Then the reviewing, because eighty percent goes out with his name on it.

By week six he had his old job plus a person to manage.

The most expensive hour in your business is the one you spend explaining. ⏱️

And yes, doing it yourself is faster. On one task, every time. That bit is true.

What the maths misses is that you are not paying for one explanation. You are paying for it again every time the task comes back slightly different, because nothing you said was written down anywhere reusable.

20 minutes a week, one task, is about 17 hours a year.

Write down how the decision gets made once. The explaining stops being a conversation and starts being a document.
