POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Being an artist sometimes feels like carrying a burning coal in your chest and under your feet,” says Mohammad Muneem Nazir, or Alif, as he is mononymously known. Through his band and his solo work, the Srinagar-born singer and poet has crafted a unique sound and identity, as he switches between Kashmiri, Urdu and Hindi.

This story appears in our Sept-Oct issue’s musicians folio including 12 artists. Read the full story at the link in bio.

A lifetime of coursing through the veins
Now the blood has lost its way.
Word has it, it turned toward the other side.
Through a tear, it vanished into the wind
Now there is both salt and blood upon the skin.
That is the taste this love such a beautiful news by @everythingisalif

I am because of the people who believed in my lunacy and continue to believe in the fury that the heart feels.

I wouldn’t take this for-granted.
