Same pose, three different angles, three different artists

Perspective shows up in so many ways and just one of the many reasons I love figure drawing so much.

Do you have a figure drawing you love? Send it my way, I’d love to share all sorts of artists drawings and interpretations here. taken in Madame X by @evfiguredrawing

Hi, I’m Tony, and welcome to East Village Figure Drawing.

I’ve spent a lot of time modeling at figure drawing sessions around NYC, and one of my favorite parts has always been seeing the amazing work people create and all the different ways artists interpret the same person and pose. I love seeing the unique perspectives, styles, and details that each artist brings to it.

@nashasketches created this beautiful piece during one of the sessions I modeled for.

I wanted to start a figure drawing session of my own that feels loose, relaxed, and a little experimental. I’ll be both hosting and modeling most of the time, so I want to use that freedom to play around with the format and the poses.

I’ll be trying challenging and unusual positions, looking for interesting shapes, angles, and perspectives to draw, from quick gestures through longer poses.

The goal is simply to create a comfortable place to draw from life, experiment, meet other artists, and enjoy figure drawing without it feeling overly formal.

This is a new project, and I’m excited to see what it grows into. taken in East Village by @evfiguredrawing

Introducing East Village Figure Drawing 🎨

I’ve been modeling at figure drawing events around NYC for a while, and after being part of so many different sessions, I’ve decided to try hosting a class of my own!

The first class will feature a live nude model with a mix of quick gestures, short poses, and longer extended poses.

Since this is my first time hosting, the introductory class is completely free to sign up! Just bring your own drawing supplies and come draw.

All experience levels are welcome. Space is limited, so grab a spot if you’d like to join ✏️
