SNAIL SUMMER fully loaded 😝😝😝

This character, like all of my creatures, has deep symbolic meaning in my life. One fact I learnt about snails is that, when you want to move them, you should always tap them on the top of the shell first. This allows them to protract their sticky soft body inside their shell, so they can safely be moved. Without doing this, if you pick a snail straight up, you can damage their soft body.

I suppose for me, these past years I had to build a pretty strong shell to survive. But more recently I’ve discovered again, the inevitability of vulnerability. Especially when it comes to interacting with other people. There are certain things we just have to risk, if we want any connection at all.

We all have two sides to us, a strong protective side and a sticky, soft vulnerable side. Even the strongest people have a soft side. And we shouldn’t deny its place in our lives.

METAMORPHOSIS

Ill be sharing one photo per day of this shoot, the shots are too beautiful on their own to cram them into a carousel. I want to really allow them to have their own moments as every shot is spectacular.

Of all the photoshoots I have organised, of all the creative projects I have done - this shot is my absolute favourite. Thank you again to @benjaminfrasermckenzie who has been collaborating with me creatively over this whole process. It’s been magical and I am so excited to share more, and continue to evolve this.

The snail mask is my most complex work so far. There were a lot of challenges to creating the exact look I wanted, particularly the skin I wanted it to look glossy and have a grey/purple hue. I did this by building up layers of powder pigments, fine glitters and clear coatings. I ended up doing atleast 10 coats. The shell of course is a whole epic adventure of its own. But mostly I am proud of the eyes. I always feature colour shifting qualities in my characters eyes, and with the snail I’ve reached a new level of depth and dynamic hues. I’m really proud of this work and won’t be shutting up about it for a while.

Craziest thing is that the snail does not have a name yet! I know that she’s the spiritual leader of my crew but the right name just hasn’t come up yet. I’m sure I’ll find it.

These wings are such an achievement I’m so proud of them!
There is still loads of details from this costume to share about but I’ve decided to put it off until January. The shoes especially people keep asking about lol!
Your girl pip needs a bit of a breather, I’ve pushed myself harder than ever and seen incredible outcomes. I have a unique situation which allows me a bit of extra time in my days to do whatever I want with… and with every second of time I get, I’ve been working towards these bigger goals, including posting content to the highest standard I can manage. I’m looking forward to taking the pressure off a little and unwinding over Christmas 🥹💕💋

I have already finalised sketches for new looks… yess indeed that’s right. But I’m taking a bit of a break before I get into anything new as finishing my mantis and putting my first art show together was a huuuge effort.

Stick with me girls and it will be spectacular 🥲🥰👻

2025 best moments coming up!
I’ve been having a big break and it’s so refreshing. But I’m sitting on a TON of funny weird videos that I didn’t get around to posting.
Reflecting on the year, I’m seeing so much fun in all my videos and that’s exactly what I needed for my soul.
My bug parade at @mushroom_valley_festival was a big highlight as my first major festival booking. The crowd went kind of crazy for my giant bugs 😭 it was a joy overload for everyone. Met the loveliest people up there too, with five performers wearing my costumes as well as festival goers who love a bit of fantasy freakdom 🥹💕🧚🏻‍♀️
