Being dumb with Alex!
Incar is always so humbling, I thought I was way closer down the straight, you can even hear me lifting in the back turn thinking I was way closer 🤣
Oh well, keep pushing and just try to run him over at the next one.

One of the most valuable lessons from the @yokai_kaizen.jp Summer School Clinic wasn’t just about driving faster it was about becoming a smarter, safer, and more aware as a driver.

@evisserr delivered an outstanding lesson on one of the most overlooked aspects of tandem drifting situational awareness and communication.

Before a pair of cars ever enters the course together, both drivers should already have an understanding of each other’s intentions. If you want to drive with someone, make that decision before you strap into the driver’s seat. Discuss your experience level, establish expectations, and make sure both drivers are comfortable with the run plan. Clear communication before entering the track creates a safer environment for everyone involved.

Once you’re on course, your focus should extend beyond your own car. Constantly monitor the proximity of your tandem partner, understand how quickly closing speeds can change, and recognize when to adjust your line or throttle input to maintain a safe and controlled gap. Tandem drifting isn’t about chasing recklessly it’s about precision, trust, consistency, and respect for the driver beside you.

Seat time is only valuable when it’s paired with quality instruction and intentional learning. Every lap is an opportunity to improve your vision, develop better throttle modulation, refine your line selection, strengthen your spatial awareness, and make safer decisions under pressure. Building these habits early creates confident drivers who can progress while minimizing unnecessary risks.

Safety is never an obstacle to performance it’s the foundation that allows performance to grow. The best drivers understand that confidence comes from preparation, communication, and awareness just as much as car control.

A huge thank you to @evisserr and the entire @yokai_kaizen.jp instructional team for continuing to invest in the next generation of drivers.
