The Dallas Art Fair is here. Join me at the Dallas Art Fair at Fashion Industry Gallery, located at 1807 Ross Avenue in the Dallas Arts District. You can find my work with Luis De Jesus Los Angeles at Booth C1 upstairs.

I’ll be in attendance and would love for you to stop by and spend time with the work.

In this video, I share the story of how my work was acquired by Samuel L. Jackson, part one, in conversation with Christopher Blay. These moments are a part of the larger journey behind the work you’ll see at the fair.

If you want to keep up with me and my journey, comment “ART” below and you’ll be added to my list for updates.

One of the things I love about art fairs is getting to talk with people about my work and hear what they see and feel.

This young woman shared her thoughts on the texture, composition, the picture within the picture, and the way I create skin tones. It means so much to hear someone connect with the details that go into each piece.

I’m grateful for these conversations and the chance to share my work with you.

My journey as an artist has taken time, but I stayed the course. I prayed, kept creating, and trusted the message I received to keep moving forward.

Looking back, I can see how each step helped me grow and progress in my career. I’m grateful for the journey and for everyone who has supported me along the way.

If I don’t have the color I need, I paint it.

I paint all of my own paper for my collages. Sometimes that means stopping to create just the right color before I can keep going. Each piece begins with those choices, long before the paper becomes part of the picture.

OPENING TODAY! Evita Tezeno and Phung Huynh are included in “Art at the Intersection of Past and Possibility” at the Tucson Museum of Art.

Art at the Intersection of Past and Possibility serves as a dynamic testing ground to reimagine the Tucson Museum of Art’s permanent collection, exploring how its diverse global works can remain deeply grounded in the Southwest. Developed through a community-driven approach, the project features collaborative themes and pairs pieces from the collection with recent works by regional artists. Through interactive gallery activations and family-friendly learning guides, visitors can engage with the art directly and help shape future presentations.

Art at the Intersection of Past and Possibility, on view through March 21, 2027, is as much an experiment as it is an exhibition. In this sense, it thinks out loud: testing, questioning, and imagining possibilities for re-presenting a collection in real time.

An angel came to me in a dream and showed me a new way to create. The message was clear: follow this direction, and success would come.

In this clip, I share that dream and how it helped shape my work. It began with a vision and the faith to trust it.

Deep Conversations

There is a sacred kind of beauty in a conversation that doesn’t rush. It’s the kind of talk that usually happens when the day slows down, the distractions fade, and you’re sitting face-to-face with someone who truly knows your heart.

True connection isn’t built on small talk or surface-level updates. It’s forged in those unhurried, soul-baring spaces where we feel safe enough to share our real thoughts, our old stories, our vulnerabilities, and our big dreams. It’s about the rare comfort of being completely heard and deeply understood, without any judgment.

In a fast-paced world that constantly pushes us to rush to the next thing, let’s make intentional time to slow down, pull up a chair, and dive beneath the surface. Protect those quiet spaces for the people who matter most. by @evitatezeno

Growing up in Port Arthur, Texas, meant growing up with the rhythms, flavors, and traditions of Louisiana culture woven into the fabric of everyday life. Being so close to the Louisiana border, we were surrounded by the sounds of Zydeco, the spirit of community, and the rich cultural traditions passed down through generations.

I remember the joy of the music, the accordion playing, the rhythm of the rubboard, and the way Zydeco could bring people together. A fais do-do is more than a dance party; it is a Louisiana tradition rooted in community, family, music, and celebration. It’s where generations gather, the music fills the room, and nobody can sit still for long!

Those memories are part of my story. They remind me of the cultural richness of Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana, where Black Creole traditions, African American heritage, and Louisiana’s French, African, and Caribbean influences come together in beautiful ways.

As an artist, I often draw from the memories, people, music, and everyday experiences that shaped my childhood. My art is a way of preserving those moments and celebrating the beauty of our cultural inheritance.

This piece takes me back to the music, the movement, and the joyful spirit of home. It’s a tribute to the people who kept these traditions alive and to the culture that continues to live in us.

Port Arthur will always be part of my story, and Louisiana culture will always have a rhythm in my soul.

Laissez les bons temps rouler! Let the good times roll!

At Untitled Art Houston, Evita Tezeno shares the story behind “Fais Do-Do,” a nod to the Louisiana tradition of children sleeping in the back while the grown folks dance. She also reflects on the connection between collage and quilting, piecing together color, pattern, and memory to create something like a paper quilt.
