Last night, we were joined by wonderful people for the opening night of MOD Cafe's "Sunday Cinema" event series, which beautifully brings together cinema, food, and conversation.

Opening the series with Sofoklis meant a great deal to me. During the talk following the 107-minute screening, we shared a very deep and meaningful conversation about the island, borders, the past, and belonging. Seeing so many beautiful people come together to share in this story was the most unforgettable part of the night.

I would like to sincerely thank all our guests who shared Sofoklis's journey with us and added meaning to the evening with their questions and energy, as well as the MOD family for their wonderful hospitality. 💙
Sunday Cinema will continue to bring Cypriot stories and independent cinema to audiences.

At some point the movement stops. What has been carried questioned and pulled in different directions begins to settle. Not through orders. Not through expectation. But through a simple decision.
A quiet act taken alone brings something to rest. Elsewhere the search continues. Questions remain. Apologies are made without answers. And yet at the center of it all something has already found its place.
On the Hill closes the journey of Sofoklis in the same way it began: not by force but simply by being.

Things don’t come together.
What began as a simple wish is now pulled in different directions carried by different people, each with their own pressures, their own reasons.
Some try to move things forward.
Some try to contain what should not be allowed.
Some are simply trying to return home.
The more it is handled, the less clear it becomes.
What should belong somewhere… no longer seems to belong anywhere.
At some point, a question surfaces:
Who owns this country?
And in the absence of an answer, everything continues —
but without direction.

“We’ll sort it out.”
It sounds simple.
But once things start moving,
not everything goes as expected.
A series of decisions.
A chain of events.
And an outcome no one fully planned.

Some moments feel like they could last forever.
A place.
A season.
A quiet sense of belonging.
Until something reminds you —
not everything is yours to keep.

Wild asparagus grows where it wants.
No lines. No permissions.
Ayrelli.
In the quiet of the fields, Sofoklis returns — not through words, but through presence.
A walk.
A touch.
A moment that feels like home.

There is a moment when a line stops being real.
When memory, longing, and presence begin to blur what was once unquestioned.
“We didn’t cross the border.
The border crossed us.”
Crossing the Line is about that moment.
In Turkish, “haddini aşmak” means to go beyond the limits set for you.
But some limits were never yours to begin with.
Step closer.
Feel what exists on the other side.

April 23rd.

A line opened.
But not everything crossed.

For decades, memories waited—
in silence,
in absence,
in unfinished conversations.

Sofoklis returns.
Not to reclaim,
not to fight—
but to remember.

A village once called home.
A past that never left.

Some journeys don’t begin with hope—
but with the need to understand.

This is not just his story.

It is ours.

Lost in the Flame 🔥
Aphrodite AI rises from sculpture in Charles de Gaulle’s captain cabin, unleashing sarcastic rock on lies, painted ships & erased islands.
S.O.S. in the noise. Truth drowned in the flame.
As islanders, we’re sick of being treated as pawns in bigger “games” that only deepen the divide of our island.

Letter to Ursula von der Leyen
When @UrsulaVonDerLeyen recently visited the Green Line, the physical barriers kept us from meeting or delivering a message. So, I made this video letter instead.
Through a fusion of real documentary footage and AI storytelling, this project captures not just the physical queues, but the psychological toll and generational wounds of Europe’s last divided capital. The status quo benefits some, but not the majority of us longing for reconciliation and the chance to stand fully grown and free.
Watch the full letter, and let me know your thoughts in the comments. ⬇️
