Polish-American soprano, on the world’s most iconic opera stages @gmartandmusic

POSTS STORIES REELS

“Vieni! t’affretta!” Lady Macbeth’s first aria is not a prayer for strength—it is a plea to be stripped of mercy. Convinced that compassion belongs to womanhood, she calls upon dark powers to erase every trace of tenderness within her, preparing herself to become the ruthless force behind Macbeth’s ascent to the throne.
This opening monologue is one of Verdi’s most extraordinary creations: psychologically fearless, vocally unforgiving, and among the most demanding arias ever written for the female voice. Before a crown is won, the battle has already begun—within her.

📆 Performances: September 18 | 20 | 22 | 24 & 26 by @ewaplonkasoprano

Only 2 days left until the premiere of Turandot at the Guangzhou Opera House 🇨🇳✨ Rehearsals are in full swing, and with every day this production reveals more of its power, scale, and beauty. So exciting to be part of this extraordinary project celebrating Puccini’s 100th anniversary — and even more special knowing it marks the first opera production directed by @jackiechan, a true legend of international cinema.

I cannot wait to step on stage as Turandot alongside @ivangyngazov (Calaf) and @selenezanetti (Liù) under the baton of Maestro @enriquemazzolanow.

Guangzhou… almost time.👑⏳ by @ewaplonkasoprano

And just like that, our Macao adventure comes to an end! Two performances of Turandot at the beautiful Macao Cultural Centre, celebrating the centenary of Puccini’s masterpiece. It was a particular pleasure to reunite with this production, which we premiered earlier this year in Guangzhou, and with so many dear friends on and off stage. A few intense days of rehearsals, extraordinary handmade costumes and wonderful memories to take home.
My heartfelt thanks to the entire company for making this journey so special. Until next time, China!🇨🇳

One day to go until the curtain rises on Turandot in Macao @macaoculturalcentre!🥳

A few final preparations before tomorrow’s performance. Having premiered this production in Guangzhou in spring 2026, I am delighted to bring it to Macao as part of the 38th Macao International Music Festival, in Jackie Chan’s production of Puccini’s masterpiece.

As Turandot marks its centenary year since its world premiere, it is particularly meaningful to be part of this celebration and to bring this extraordinary work to the stage once again.

For those who cannot join us tomorrow, the second performance will take place on 1 November.
Macao, see you tomorrow!🔜

Returning to Asia for the fifth time to perform Turandot, and for the second time in Jackie Chan’s production, this time in Macao as part of the 38th Macao International Music Festival.

There is something special about coming back to a production you know so well, surrounded by familiar faces and working once again with much of the same team. And, of course, being in such a remarkable place makes this return all the more enjoyable.

Looking forward to our performances on 31 October and 1 November.🔜

Wishing you all a wonderful World Opera Day!✨ Celebrating with an excerpt from one of my dearest moments as Aida — O cieli azzurri — from @shirin__neshat’s striking production at the @operadeparis, under the baton of Maestro @michelemariotticonductor. A production that looks beyond the tragic love story to explore exile, hatred, and the devastating consequences of war. May opera continue to move, challenge and unite us.❤️ by @ewaplonkasoprano

After four truly busy days, I am finally finding a moment to say goodbye and express my gratitude for this Macbeth adventure. It has been a pleasure to work under the baton of the great Maestro @danieloren_official and to share the stage with such wonderful colleagues in Riccardo Canessa’s beautiful traditional production at @teatroverdisalerno.

Already preparing for another adventure, but I will be back with more thoughts and memories from this Macbeth journey. Stay tuned!🔜🔥

Ewa Płonka in Verdi’s Macbeth at Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège.

From 18 to 26 September, soprano Ewa Płonka appeared in Verdi’s Macbeth at @operaliege, in a production that brings together the composer’s dramatic intensity and the dark, unsettling world of Shakespeare’s tragedy.

Conducted by Maestro @giampaolobisanti and directed by @stefanopoda, who also designed the sets, costumes and lighting and created the choreography, the production offers a powerful vision of one of Verdi’s most psychologically complex operas. @paologianicei joined the creative team as assistant director.

The cast featured @l.u.c.a.m.i.c.h.e.l.e.t.t.i as Macbeth, @riccardo.fassi.opera as Banco, @matteo.desole as Macduff, @alexandra_grigoras_soprano as Lady Macbeth’s Lady-in-Waiting, and @lorenzomartellitenore as Malcolm, alongside the Orchestra, Chorus and technical teams of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège.

A tale of ambition, guilt and the devastating consequences of the pursuit of power, Macbeth remains one of Verdi’s most compelling explorations of the human psyche.

Ewa’s next appearances as Lady Macbeth will take place at @teatroverdisalerno on 18 October at 6 PM and 20 October at 9 PM, under the musical direction of Maestro @danieloren_official and the stage direction of Riccardo Canessa.
