if u have been following my life at all u already know but ‘channels’ the first punchlove LP is out now. if u know me at all u also know this is very special since this is a project that has been in the works for literally four years and is probably the most total amount of effort i’ve ever put into anything. @jill.olesen and I started sending each other demos at the beginning of the pandemic out of pure desperation for purpose - i had wanted to make a shoegaze project (trying and failing on my own lol) for years and we figured we might as well pursue it now that there’s nothing stopping us. the very first song i ever wrote for this band was ‘pigeon’ which is track 4 on the LP, a super slow super mbv-worship track about loneliness begging for the state of things to change. it’s been really wild watching the rise of shoegaze over the past four years in the independent/alternative music world and looking around me to see the community of lovely friends that playing this kind of music (that used to be a sweet escape from loneliness and lack of community) has provided me. anyway now we become traveling circular plastic and clothing salespeople! tour starts tonight in richmond and then asheville, atlanta, memphis, new orleans, austinx4, okc, tulsa, kansas city, chicago, ohio, pittsburgh, philly. lots of places i’ve never been before and even more i’ve never played so would love to see anyone i know in these places!!!

photos are some of my fav excerpts from recording. aside from ‘dead lands’ which was done in college at school we did the whole album at home which would not have been possible without the many microphones generously lent to me by @willlren and @pantsdarwish . enjoy the nerd shit

much love to @joeymachinaera @ianlangemcpherson2013 @willlren and @viz_wel for joining us in this craziness and for the patience with me taking 100 million years to finish the mixes. it’s crazy to me that I’ve been done with this album for 9+ months now and am still happy with the mixes. ok i’m done by @ewillixms

if ur loveless today (haha) u can check out this thing i just put on bandcamp it’s 2 versions of old mbv songs, one’s a fuzz pedal trash punk version, one’s a terrible breakcore/house ‘remix’; there’s also another ep up there from like 3 years ago if you wanna hear that too ; exwhalers dot bandcamp dot com

yes that’s my jazzmaster. it’s a parody of loveless obviously (i couldn’t think of anything else)

p.s. i love u kevin will u be my valentine by @ewillixms
