A journey of remembrance, gratitude, and a deeper understanding of Father Kelly.

After Father Kelly was laid to rest, Lori and I were given the extraordinary opportunity to spend time with his family and experience Kilrush—the community that formed him and remained such an important part of who he was.

Maeve Howard graciously opened her home to us. We shared dinner at Father Kelly’s house with Jack Kelly, his wife Gerr, Caroline, Clair, Annabelle, Janet, and Kathy. Their hospitality allowed us to spend meaningful time with the people Father Kelly loved and to know him in ways I never could have known him solely as a student or teacher.

I attended St. Thomas Aquinas for four years and had the privilege of working for Father Kelly for 26 years. Yet being in his hometown, hearing the stories, meeting his relatives, and seeing the love the people of Kilrush had for him revealed another dimension of his life. He was deeply respected, admired, and loved—a true son of Kilrush.

Standing inside St. Senan’s Church—where he was baptized, celebrated his first Mass, and was finally laid to rest—was a profound gift.

In his prayers, Father Kelly often spoke of love, respect, health, togetherness, joy, purpose, ownership, challenge, and closeness to the Lord. We experienced every one of those things among his family and the people of Kilrush.

Father Kelly gave those gifts to so many of us, especially during our most difficult moments. When my mother passed away, he was one of the first people to call me. He told me that my mom had carried me as far as she could, and now it was up to me to travel the rest of the way. Somehow, hearing those words from Father Kelly placed me on the path toward healing.

This video is a reflection on the sacred opportunity to walk where Father Kelly walked, spend time with the people he loved, and better understand the place that shaped the man who shaped so many of us.

May he rest in peace, and may the lessons he gave us continue to guide the rest of our journey. taken in Kilrush, Co. Clare by @executive_director_sta

As we near the completion of our 89th year and stand on the threshold of our 90th year at St. Thomas Aquinas, I’m reminded what a privilege it is to be part of this extraordinary community.

Today’s faculty and staff luncheon, generously hosted by our parents, was another powerful reminder of how much they value and support the people who serve our students every day. It is truly an incredible tradition and one of the many things that makes STA so special.

Thank you to our parents, teachers, staff, and students for an outstanding year. I am grateful beyond words to be part of this community and honored to serve alongside great leaders like Monsignor Kelly, Dr. Aloma, and our leadership team.

As we celebrate 89 years of excellence and look ahead to 90, I couldn’t be more proud to be part of the STA family. 💙💛 taken in St. Thomas Aquinas High School by @executive_director_sta

💙💛 The Heart and Soul of St. Thomas Aquinas!

Friday night was about more than football. It was about celebrating the extraordinary teachers and staff who make St. Thomas Aquinas such a special place.

Before kickoff, our faculty took center field for a well-deserved tribute, recognizing the dedication, passion, and lasting impact they have on generations of Raiders.

The evening was especially meaningful as we celebrated our alumni faculty and staff—former students who once walked these halls and have returned to inspire, teach, mentor, and give back to the next generation. What a powerful testament to the STA tradition!

The smiles, applause, and Raider pride captured throughout the evening tell the story. Our teachers are truly the heart and soul of St. Thomas Aquinas, and we are grateful for all they do.

A special thank-you to Raider Roots, the Athletic Department, and our football program for collaborating to make this memorable evening possible.

Once a Raider, Always a Raider! 💙💛

✝️ Sunday Readings | October 11, 2026 🤍

This Sunday’s Gospel is Matthew 22:1–14, where Jesus shares the parable of the wedding feast, reminding us that God invites everyone into His kingdom. ✨ His invitation calls us to open our hearts, strengthen our faith, and make room for Him in our everyday lives. May we remember to respond to His call and share His love with those around us, especially those who may feel overlooked or left out. ❤️🙏

A small symbol. A remarkable legacy. A story that began across the Atlantic. 🇮🇪

Today, we proudly unveil a special addition to our Father Kelly Green uniform: the Coat of Arms of Kilrush, Ireland, the hometown of Father Vincent Kelly.

Father Kelly arrived at St. Thomas Aquinas in 1970, beginning a lifetime of leadership and service that would shape generations of students. Even as Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of Miami, his connection to STA never faded.

The Kilrush Coat of Arms tells the story of his hometown through symbols of faith, hope, Ireland’s green landscape, and the waters of the River Shannon.

Now, every time our Raiders wear Father Kelly Green, they carry a piece of the place that shaped the man who helped shape our school.

From Kilrush to St. Thomas Aquinas, his legacy lives on.

Faith. Family. Tradition. Excellence.

STA students persevered through the heat and relocated bags of soil, installed an iguana fence, and created a layer of hay over the garden beds. It’s safe to say this first maintenance meeting was a thriving success! #saintthomasaquinashighschool #gardenclub #gardening #growingtogether #rootedintradition by @executive_director_sta
