Taking a little look back at ME this past year, because it’s MY birthday 💅

I recently took a walk through Central Park to experience Janet Cardiff's permanent art walk installation Her Long Black Hair 💫
[You're following her footsteps while making your own. Looking at photographs taken decades ago, trying to find the exact place where someone once stood, only to realize you're standing there yourself. Her voice is in your ear, telling you about things that happened here, while you're looking at the same trees, the same buildings, the same paths.
Past and present start to get messy.
Her walk becomes yours. Your walk becomes someone else's future memory.]

My very first roll of 120 film on a Seagull of sorts. I loaded up the film and asked my pal John if I could come take pictures of his cows. They were just as curious about me as I was of them. Like a portal through time. Love the red fade from the slow exposure over the last ~24 years 😍

I developed the last few rolls of film I’ve been hanging on to for the last twenty something years or so. This is the roll I was most excited about, even knowing that not much would develop from it, if anything.
The simplest of cameras with just a shutter release and a knob to advance the film. It was my grandmothers, gifted to me when I started showing an interest in film cameras, along with an ancient roll of film still nestled in the little paper box. These photos mean more than what I can see (or not see). They hold strong memories of the places I carefully pulled down on that fragile little lever to let the light flood in across the film through the smallest of holes. The smell of books and a mustiness lingering in the air. Dim street lamps filling the living room with a golden haze. Bursting at the seams with teenage heartache. The heat of a Tennessee summer with bodies stretched across a boulder, the white noise of a waterfall, mist flowing over me.
