Calling all my fellow COVID conscious/airborne aware Rhode Islanders to reach out to the @thepvdeye to let them know that @ridohealth is giving them BAD, OUTDATED MISINFORMATION about COVID-19 as we are getting ready to head into the fall/winter surge.

Vaccination is NOT your best protection against COVID-19. It is NOT a respiratory illness. It is a multi-systemic illness spread by airborne transmission that can affect every system in the body. And the vaccines, while they are important for preventing severe outcomes during the acute phase of illness, do not prevent you catching COVID, do not prevent spreading it to others, and they appear to do very little to mitigate the risk of going on to develop long COVID symptoms. COVID is causing massive disability and chronic illness in Rhode Island and around the world. Current estimates show around 120,000 Americans die from it every year. Our best protection is cleaning the air in spaces where people gather and wearing well-fitted respirators like N95/KN95 when in public to filter virus particles out of the air we breathe.

There are already over half a million peer-reviewed studies published about COVID, and reading this article, it becomes very clear that no one at RIDOH has bothered to read any of them.

My newest poem
Whiteness

I submitted this to an exhibit about identity, but I don't believe it was accepted, so I'm publishing it here!

I wrote this poem because taking off the mask of whiteness has changed my life. This piece is focused on how something hidden in the open became visible. Divesting from a system that has shaped our world can seem scary. But once I did it, I realized life was much more scary before, when I was living with a monster holding me up in the world. A very old, very fickle power... that likes to eat people for sport.

Sometimes activism can just look like telling state agencies to DO THEIR JOBS.

In response to the RI dept of health's ONGOING FAILURE to inform people about proper masking and the risks of COVID, after they posted a story that ONCE AGAIN promotes only vaccines as the most effective mitigation strategy against airborne illness.

They're cowards, preferring to promote incomplete strategies that leave many people vulnerable rather than just talk about wearing masks. You see they'll privately acknowledge that masks are an important tool for prevention, but publicly they deliberately withhold this information.

Because if people knew, they might actually think they deserve to be given adequate protections, particularly in workplace and healthcare settings. by @expertlevelbummer
