👀This insane 8 color sim process print for @elcompajv and @refscollective was absolutely wild and stretched my art separation capabilities to their limits… and beyond! ➡️

I’m always down for a challenge and this one was extremely daunting. I hit the wall a few times taking a crack at separating this artwork and even though I ALWAYS do my own seps, in a moment of intimidation, I reached out to two different well known separation guys in the industry (yeah, there are famous sep people, turns out) for help. They both turned this job down. Too many weirdly specific in-the-weeds challenges with this particular art that no one wanted to touch it. ➡️

So it was back to square one in Photoshop and I did it myself after all, goddammit. We had a few more challenges once we got this beast on press, but after a few tweaks it was nailed down. ➡️

People are worried about DTF and/or DTG taking over and making traditional screen printing obsolete, but no direct to garment print or glorified heat transfer will ever take the place of thoughtfully separated and manually printed artwork executed with care and the years of experience by printers who’ve tried, failed, and tried again. Huge shoutout to Juan for the trust on these and for bringing us such a great design! </end rant>👀

Congrats to @protomartyrband on their forthcoming new record (out next month); here’s a throwback to a tee we ran for them as a rush a few years back while they were on tour. This one hangs in the shop and I see it daily- still a favorite!

I redesigned this shirt after it occurred to me that people might not want the words “Dave Matthews Band” really big on their chest. Show your love for Chicago tour boats with this shirt, available now, and expertly printed by @explodinghouse ! #chicago taken in Chicago, Illinois by @explodinghouse
