Making our own custom chopsticks in Gion, Kyoto! 🥢✨

We had such an amazing hands-on experience at HASHILAB Gion.

I visited with my 10-year-old child, and it was so much fun for both of us!

Using a traditional Japanese plane (kanna) to shape the wood was surprisingly easy and engaging—even for kids.

You can choose your favorite wood, craft your pair, and even get your name engraved in Japanese Kanji (e.g., Ema → 笑真).

It’s a wonderful activity to do with family and a perfect, one-of-a-kind souvenir to take home from Kyoto!

It’s conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from Gion-Shijo Station.
Highly recommended for families visiting Kyoto!

Looking for a delicious udon spot in Kyoto? 🍜

We found a popular udon restaurant just an 8-minute walk from Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station.

This time, we tried the curry udon with shrimp tempura 🍤

The thick, chewy noodles and rich curry broth were so satisfying. And don’t forget to save some curry broth for rice at the end 🤤

They also have plenty of other delicious options, including tempura udon and cold udon, so there are lots of dishes we want to try next time!

At BOOT CAMP, you can try massive burgers made with juicy Japanese Wagyu.

The popular 5-patty cheeseburger “Grenade” is stacked with freshly grilled Wagyu patties and lots of melted cheese.

They also serve the teriyaki Wagyu burger “Black Hawk,” paired with a house-made Japanese-style teriyaki sauce made with soy sauce and onion.

All burger sauces are house-made, including their original burger sauce and a homemade tartar-style sauce for the teriyaki burger.
