To be completely honest, I found myself in tears at Canyonlands National Park. It went beyond beauty and into that feeling where you’re so encapsulated by what’s in front of you, you cant begin to understand what it is or how it exists but yet there it is. A force of nature so vast and so beautiful that it not only fills you with awe, but with waves of indescribable emotion. In this case, something about Canyonlands made me feel safe, protected. It was as if the land was speaking to me.

If anyone else has felt their own powerful connections and emotions like this in beautiful environments, please share your experience ! taken in Canyonlands National Park, Utah by @exploreearthwithme_

Extraordinary, beautiful, serene, and enchanting are understatements when it comes to describing Grand Teton National Park. Over two summers, my visits to this place have brought me grounding, peace, stillness, and gratitude in times of stress and worry.

•

The lands within and around Grand Teton are the ancestral homelands of 24 tribes, who began venturing into this valley over 11,000 years ago as the glaciers receded. Native people came to hunt animals, harvest roots and berries, and collect rocks and minerals such as obsidian, quartzite, and soapstone. For thousands of years, Jackson Hole served as a neutral crossroads for trade and travel routes in the region. Thankfully, the tribes’ deep spiritual and cultural connections to their land, which we now call Grand Teton National Park, is able to be maintained today. by @exploreearthwithme_

🌊 CASA BATLLÓ was intentionally designed and inspired by the shapes, elements, and resident species of the sea. The architecture is truly magical, which is even more so felt when experienced in person. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this extraordinary building captivates the intricate details of nature that, at least for me, leaves you awestruck at every turn. taken in Barcelona, Spain by @exploreearthwithme_

Paiute lore reveals the belief that the rocks of Bryce Canyon, which they call “Anka-ku-was-a-wits” meaning the “Red Painted Faces,” were once “Evil Legend People” (To-when-an-ung-wa) who were turned to stone by the Coyote spirit:

“For some reason, the Legend People in that place were bad; they did something that was not good, perhaps a fight, perhaps some stole something. Because they were bad, Coyote turned them all into rocks. You can see them in that place now all turned into rocks; some standing in rows, some sitting down, some holding onto others. You can see their faces, with paint on them just as they were before they became rocks. The name of that place is Angka-ku-wass-a-wits (red painted faces).” 🏜️
- Legend given by Paiute elder in 1936 to a park ranger
